About the role:
Here at Babcock International we are looking for a Learning, Training & Development Director to join us at a Sector Level.

The Learning, Training and Development Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and tracking the impact of the Nuclear Sector learning, training and development strategy, to support the business in ensuring it has a workforce with the skills and capability to meet current and future requirements.

You will lead and manage the Nuclear Sector Learning, Training and Development team. And also maintain awareness of industry trends and developments in relation to learning, training and development and adapt the learning, training and development strategy accordingly.

Main Purpose of Role:
The Learning, Training & Development Director will work in conjunction with the Business Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning functions to develop, implement and maintain processes to establish the skills and capability strengths and gaps of the workforce in relation to current and future business requirements.

We are looking for an individual to develop and implement innovative strategies, tools, systems and processes that support the development of skills and capabilities against business requirements.

Some key responsibilities are as follows -
• Develop cost-effective learning, training and development interventions, leveraging internal and external capability to best effect.
• Manage training budgets as required.
• Manage external and internal suppliers to achieve value for money.
• Develop and implement processes to evaluate the effectiveness of learning, training and development interventions and adjust these interventions accordingly.
• Develop, implement and maintain systems and processes to record individual learning, training and development requirements and interventions.
• Foster a culture of learning across the company.
• Support the business in maintaining regulatory compliance in relation to the skills, qualifications and capability of the workforce

This is a key strategic role where you will act as the main interface with Babcock Group and other Sectors on all matters relating to learning, training and development, to identify opportunities for collaboration. You will develop partnerships with external bodies, companies and local/central government organisations to support the fulfilment of the Nuclear Sector learning, training and development needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
• Demonstrable experience at a Head of or Director of Training level in a large, complex and regulated organisation, including development and implementation of innovative learning, training and development strategies.

• Nuclear, Marine or Defence experience is preferable.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, the individual needs to be able to articulate the importance of training and development to ensure it is a priority focus at all levels. Ensure the strategy of the function and how it fits into the organisational strategy is understood.

• Excellent leadership skills, they must be approachable and have the ability to inspire trust in others.

• Strong delivery skills, they must deliver on commitments on time and within budget and be able to tangibly measure the benefits of their strategy.

• The individual must be approachable and collaborative in order for the function to work well with the business and other HR functions.

• It is essential that they are strategic and forward thinking.

Qualifications
• A degree level qualification in training, education or a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• A degree level qualification in a technical discipline within engineering, construction, nuclear or marine would be beneficial.
• A project management/ business management qualification would be beneficial.

What else do I need to know?
• Successful candidates will need to be eligible to gain UK SC level security clearance for this role
• This role requires 2/3 days per week presence in our Devonport location
Location
The location for this role can be flexible across the South West, with travel to site required.
