Role Summary\:


The Communications Manager will work to tell a strong external story about the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make energy cleaner, safer, and more efficient.


The BakerHughesC3.ai (BHC3) joint venture agreement was formed in June 2019 between Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, and C3.ai, the leading industrial AI company. The Baker Hughes team supporting this joint venture is focused on the marketing, communications, and commercialization of the joint venture for a CXO audience.


The Communication Manager will have the opportunity to run projects for global audiences, with a focus on the strategy and execution of all aspects of external announcements, events presence, and content creation. The Communications Manager will also partner across the organization to bring this storytelling back to the more than 67,000 employees across Baker Hughes.


This role reports into the head of communications for BHC3 at Baker Hughes and will work with the full team of 50 global communicators across Baker Hughes. As the experts in enterprise software, AI, and the digital transformation of energy, the BHC3 communications team are relied on by regional teams, other Baker Hughes product companies, as well as corporate leaders in IR and other functions to ensure our overall company story highlights our ability to meet the market demand for AI.

Our team in San Ramon, CA has the feeling of a small startup, although we partner daily with the C3.ai team in Redwood City, CA and our global Baker Hughes colleagues. This role includes the option to work from home as scheduling allows.


Essential Responsibilities\:


The ideal candidate will be driven, proactive and polished with strong PR agency and/or in-house communications experience. The candidate must be a strong writer and know how to translate complex enterprise technology stories into simple, clear and impactful communications programs that are then amplified to reach key audiences.


In the role of Communications Manager, you will\:

  • Support external programs focusing on media and PR, social media, and content creation
  • Bring the storytelling back to employees finding ways to bring external news and content back to the employee audience, who are eager to understand AI and other emergent technologies
  • Partner closely with C3.ai working with teams including marketing, communications, AR and others to run communications programs for the joint venture
  • Provide executive support and council around profile building and thought leadership through events, social media, and other communications channels
  • Support UNIFY our digital transformation conference held in Monaco in 2019, Houston in 2018, and Paris in 2017
  • Support the Baker Hughes Annual Meeting, held each year in Florence bringing the digital transformation and AI narrative through within the companys larger story
  • Act as a key member of the global Baker Hughes Communications team  engaging with the regional teams, other Baker Hughes product companies, Investor Relations, External Affairs, and other communications groups across the company to educate and extend the BHC3 and digital transformation stories
  • Partner closely with marketing teams to ensure alignment to product marketing, demand generation and pipeline objectives
Qualifications/Requirements\:
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing or Business from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Communications (PR agency and in-house; corporate communications)
Eligibility Requirement\:
  • Travel up to 10% of the time

  • Experience with B2B enterprise software communications
  • Effective communicator in both written and verbal communications
  • Passion for technology and the ability to translate technology into simple, compelling messaging and storytelling for a CxO audience
  • Excellent executive engagement skills
  • Ability to effectively juggle content strategy and development that spans from highly creative to technical
  • Self-starter with ability to embrace & drive change in a matrixed corporation
  • Experience leading and/or direct involvement in large-scale projects and programs (major PR announcements, events, other external initiatives)
  • Demonstrated achievement working/partnering with commercial and/or marketing teams
  • Excellent people and agency management, project management and organizational skills
