Position summary:

The Business Analyst/Test Writer is intended to provide support to the System Manager of the Aeronautical Information Production System (AIPS). Tasks will incorporate aspects of Business Analysis, Technical Writing and Test Development, including developing business objectives and requirements for new or changing components within the AIPS, maintaining existing documentation, reviewing test and production documentation provided by the vendors involved in the project and assisting the System Manager with project coordination.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Maintaining the AIPS system level requirements, system design and verification cross reference documents.
  • Engaging with user SMEs to determine and document the objectives and requirements of existing legacy in-house developed applications so they can be replaced by newer systems.
  • Reviewing new and updated management plans, test plans and test procedures as produced by the project vendors.
  • Coordinating and tracking the reviews performed by user SMEs of the vendor provided documentation.
  • In collaboration with user SMEs and external developers, collating the design information for new utility applications and produce test procedures documenting their verification.
  • Maintaining configuration information about the AIPS (software & versions in use on workstations & servers).
  • Updating various AIPS program documents following review with the System Manager (eg: System Overview Document, Project Guide/HOTO, etc).
  • Coordinating and assemble the information necessary for their review and assessment of changes to hardware and software configuration projects.
  • Maintaining a summary of all active AIPS engineering changes showing status, information required, etc.

    Experience/Skills Sought:
    As the successful candidate you will possess experience in the following:

  • Solid experience in gathering system objectives and requirements for software development and/or purchase projects.
  • Solid experience writing plans, guidance documents and test procedures for applications.
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to work with junior through to senior staff, including vendors.
  • Experience providing project coordination tasks.

    Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in Defence environments involving uniform, APS and vendor staff.
  • Experience with tailored and configurable COTS packages.
  • Aviation knowledge and awareness of Aeronautical Information.
