PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Among others, it is engaged in petroleum and natural gas exploration and production activities, with several blocks in five countries at the moment: Spain, Algeria, Colombia, Brasil and Peru.
In the last few years, Exploration & Production, headquartered in Spain, has quadrupled its staff, and employs today around 650 people worldwide. The company is now gradually broadening its international presence and investing in E&P activities.

The PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING SPECIALIST will be based in Madrid, integrated into the Project Development & Planning Department and reporting to the Project Development & Planning Manager.
The incumbent will play a key role in achieving the company’s objective in terms of production growth. He/she will be required to manage the development of pre-sanction projects from discovery/appraisal through to project sanction and evaluate potential acquisitions of exploration acreage, assets and companies and provide project development specialist. To this extent he/she will be required to drive the identification, development, selection and maturation of robust development concepts as efficiently as possible during the pre-sanction project development phases. In addition he/she will be required to leverage his/her specialist project development and planning experience to provide coaching and guidance to the existing project development team members and perform technical peer reviews of PDP work.
Key responsibilities
•To coordinate/lead multi-disciplinary teams (subsurface and surface disciplines) during the pre-sanction phases of project development to ensure range of development concepts are identified, evaluated and optimal development plans selected and progressed.
•To evaluate potential acquisitions of exploration acreage, assets and companies and provide pre-sanction project development engineering support to Asset, New Business and Exploration groups.
•To provide coaching/guidance and transfer knowledge of best project development best practice to less experienced development engineers and perform technical peer reviews of the studies, estimations & analysis produced to ensure the desired quality of the deliverables.
•To collect and communicate the necessary technical data related to the opportunity.
•To provide the engineering input required to create and evaluate the development concepts, by establishing and managing internal and external engineering studies.
•To provide input to/and prepare cost and schedule estimates in accordance with the project model and identify relevant industry cost/schedule benchmarks.
•To coordinate the economics input process to ensure that evaluation and screening is undertaken on a consistent basis
•To identify, define, coordinate and manage external studies with specialist engineering contractors.
•To prepare and deliver Project Development Reports, Statement of Requirements and Project Execution Plan etc.
•To assist in the development and transfer of Project Development best practice corporate guidelines, processes and standards and ensure technical consistency across development projects
•To ensure that designs are compliant with company and relevant international codes and standards
•To identify and promote new technologies, technical innovation and cost reductions.
Minimum Requirements
•Minimum Engineering Degree, MSC would be advantageous.
•International E&P experience in one of the following domains: Process Engineering / Facilities Engineering / Reservoir Engineering / Field Engineering / Project Management / Project Development.
•Experience in one of the following domains: Project Development Planning / Concept Selection / Pre-Sanction Project Execution / Petroleum Architecture / Front End Project Loading / Conceptual Engineering.
•Expertise in oil & gas facilities design / process engineering, project development, typical E&P Project Model, cost engineering, production-operations and reservoir development.
•Experience with deepwater offshore developments would be an advantage.
•Knowledge of petroleum economics, contracts and oil & gas finance/accounting
•Expertise with frequently used tools : IHS Que$tor, Pathfinder etc.
•Coordination and integration skills required to coach and guide colleagues and integrate other E&P disciplines and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
•Communication and presentation skills to present and defend development concepts through the project phases.
•Working knowledge in English is essential; knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
•Willingness to travel for business trips.
