Role Responsibilities:

Leading new market origination agenda to assess new business development opportunities for DS. Leads commercial development projects identifies and screens opportunities; prepares for negotiations; ensures business development execution. Works and manages the complexity in a portfolio of 4-5 options/projects. External Relationship focused.

  • Complies with BP's Code of Conduct and models BP's Values & Behaviours.
  • Leads concept design and execution for a variety of strategic projects to meet strategic commercial objectives, including negotiations with potential partners third parties on significant and complex commercial, joint venture and M&A transactions.
  • Manages the development of offers in order to deliver value for partnerships, and creates a framework for offers to ensure sharing of processes across different locations.
  • Drives broad collaboration with other business segments to encourage knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement, and develops and leads relevant external partner, supplier and consultant relationships.
  • Builds the team's capabilities through sharing technical expertise in strategic business development, economic evaluation and investment appraisal.
  • Drives identification of business development opportunities and leads technical and economic evaluation and investment appraisal processes in order to determine the feasibility and probability of success in target markets.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Leads business development projects for specified geographies and businesses.
  • Opportunity identification and Screening: Identify options to meet goals and frame business case for preferred options with implementation plan.
  • Prepare for negotiation: Determine key boundaries and define deal structure ensure appropriate internal governance.
  • Implementation / completion: Work with business and M&A as required to ensure delivery.
  • Develop processes, tools and information to create superior business development execution.
Leadership:
  • Maximise value - takes ownership and leads the leverage and arbitrage on the negotiation journey.
  • Builds enduring capability - build internal capability by mentoring others, actively identifying and developing commercial skills of others. Energize others - creates an engaging environment for our employees to innovate and originate new ideas to thrive.

Experience:
  • Business experience, ideally within Fuels, IST, Petrochemicals or Lubricants.
  • In-depth experience in financial modelling and a good understanding of EEM requirements.
  • Prior commercial experience important.
  • Project management (and business development experience) essential.
  • M&A, Offer Development and Innovation.
  • Track record of establishing effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Track record of thriving in a fast paced and highly ambiguous environment.
