Conducts surveying and mapping services covering geodetic, topographic, hydrographic and remote sensing surveys. Responsible for converting all maps and charts into digital format for use in the Geodetic GIS system.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:· Plans and executes mapping programs to produce Topographic, Hydrographic and Engineering maps, necessary for the prospective development projects within the company concession areas.· Contributes to range of more complex geodetic or photogrammetric surveying studies to meet project requirements, developing concise, regular and ad-hoc reports on time, as required.· Supervises engineering surveys conducted by contractors for various departments both onshore and offshore. · Plans new or extends existing control networks to ensure that precise and accurate positioning requirements of the Company are achieved in a timely and economic manner. · Maintains and updates Geographical Information System (GIS). This involves the data capture of field information, its loading into the database, processing, analysis and output in thematic map format.· Participates in the ongoing development of the Geodetic Sections suite of computer programs. Supervision· Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.· Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.Budgets· Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives. · Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures· Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section’s work programs in line with Company and International standards.· Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations. Performance Management· Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.Innovation and Continuous Improvement· Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.· Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability· Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards

Job Specification

Incumbent carries out responsible, varied assignments requiring general knowledge of Geomatics Engineering. Problems solved using a combination of standard procedures or modifications thereof. More complex work projects will be referred to more senior authorities for guidance. Work is reviewed regularly by more senior professionals. May give periodic technical guidance to staff assigned to work on a common project.

Majority of work is focused on surveying, analyzing, monitoring and mapping. The incumbent is the Company resource on issues relating to Surveys, Mapping and GIS issues intended for Customers mainly PDD, Drilling, Engineering, Production, HSED. Setting priorities based on and cost benefit is an on-going challenge.

Accountabilities may include:

Conduct Geodetic surveys and mapping required within operation&exploration areas.

Participate in Topographic mapping and satellite imagery andGISinformation services

·

Plans and executes mapping programs to produce Topographic,Hydrographicand Engineering maps, necessary for the prospectivedevelopment projectswithin areas.

Contributes to range of more complex geodetic orphotogrammetricsurveying studies to meet project requirements,developing concise,regular and ad-hoc reports on time, as required.

Prepares periodic and ad hoc geodetic reports regarding fieldactivities,observations and interpretations.

·

Keeps abreast of new development in operations geodetic in termsofgeodetic computer applications, attending conferences, symposiaforsociety meetings and relating functions.
