Junior Marine Structural Engineer in CAN-BC-Burnaby, Canada

Advisian is a leading provider of inspection and engineering services for the maintenance and rehabilitation of ports and marine and materials handling infrastructure. Advisian provides a service that is that is unique compared to others which are offered in the industry. Our ports and marine structures and materials handling teams consists of in-house, registered professional engineers and technologists who are certified to conduct underwater inspections and are specifically dedicated to and specialized in the field of inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure. Our team works closely with facility operators in conducting inspections and preparing maintenance programs which take into account user safety, long and short term maintenance requirements, and budgetary constraints.

Our team includes world class technical experts and dynamic go-getters. The Junior Marine Structural Engineer is a full-time position based in Burnaby, B.C. Canada.

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be assigned small projects from planning to implementation and typical tasks include:
•Develop work plans and budgets
•Liaise with clients and determine client requirements
•Provide preliminary / conceptual design through to detailed design for marine infrastructures
•Conduct field work (inspection and review during construction)
•Prepare project deliverables including drawings, specifications, and reports
•Support senior staff on larger projects including:
-Detailed analysis and design
-Inter-discipline coordination
-Assist with project reporting


Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in civil/structural engineering (a masters degree is preferred)
•1-3 years of experience in marine or industrial structures
•Experience with seismic design and soil-structures interaction
•Structural design experience using steel, concrete, and timber
•Interest in working on large scale industrial and maritime projects
•Understanding of tides, wave and wind forces is preferred
•Experience with structural analysis software and Microsoft Office is preferred
•Good communication skills both written and verbal
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Exceptional interpersonal skills
