Test Scheduler in Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan, United States

Test Scheduler is responsible for supporting the test Lab testing through the coordination and scheduling of incoming tests.  The scheduler will also have the responsibility to help with tracking and maintaining the inventory of test equipment, harnesses, fixtures and other test related materials.
  • Test request scheduling via internal system
  • Assigning test requests to appropriate test equipment based on input from engineering and leadership
  • Being a first filtering process for incoming test requests as they are submitted
  • Maintaining constant contact with the requesting community 
  • to verify the status of their tests as they relate to their planned schedule
  • Calling the requestors as needed to insure they are informed and prepared to support their testing in order to minimize lost facility time
  • Elevating test issue to staff and requestors supervisors as needed to insure issues are resolved quickly
  • Notify test lead when workload is slow and willingness to provide support in other areas as requested
  • Inventory Management
  • Keeping stock levels of consumable items
  • Developing and maintaining a tracking system and a preferred vendors list
  • Ordering of equipment and supplies
  • Portable Test Equipment Inventory Management, contacting requestors who may have equipment that is overdue
  • Scheduling training sessions for group personal and entering information into a training matrix
  • Keeping detailed records to insure communications are tracked to avoid conflicts
  • Support safety initiatives and comply with all Environmental, Health, & Safety, and ISO documented procedures
  • Maintain multiple different Test Lab Web Based Schedules, each lab having distinctly different testing environments as well as different customers
  • Maintain Daily Test Revisions
  • Coordinate / Track Cancellations and Revisions
  • Maintain Site Upgrade/ Engineering Revision Scheduling
  • Manage Certification and Development priorities; coordinate adjustments/revisions as necessary to accommodate.
  • Maintain manpower forecasts with Product Development to manage test scheduling development.
  • Manage Brokered Testing, brokered single point of contact; define test capabilities; Liaison; Quotations and Scheduling.
  • Manage / maintain the facility preventative maintenance schedule.  Coordinate preventative maintenance and quality control activities with the maintenance/engineering staff.
  • Support Requesting Community.  Assist with test request development, trouble-shooting and issue resolution. 
  • Support the development of new equipment / test methodologies 
  • Delivery of financial objectives of the department(s) and the team
  • Additional assignments as necessary to deliver corporate objectives/support Operations Supervision
  • Support the development of new test requests by building the necessary inputs through the laboratory management system
  • Participate in the Safety Process
  • Two (2) years of progressive clerical experience and familiarity with a variety of general office equipment including computers and office systems. Specialized and relevant training may be substituted for experience.
  • Good collaboration skills, able to work with multiple people and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Excellent English skills (Oral, reading, writing and listening)
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Project, Explorer) and ability to work with Macros
  • Ability to run meetings.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and proven record
  • Basic understanding of vehicles and their systems/components
  • Experience in a lab or inventory related environment preferred
  • Not afraid to make contact with people and follow up repeatedly
  • Methodical and organized and able to keep good, detailed records; ability to identify information that should be tracked to provide backup to support conversations with clients
  • Ability to work with people but willing to stand your ground and insure the laboratory issues get timely attention; willing to elevate difficult issues as soon as they arise
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, taking direction from multiple sources as needed
  • Ability to be a self-starter and begin tasks without direction
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and focus through distractions

  • Work hours are normally 40 hours per week/ 5 days per week, Monday thru Friday (7:00AM-3:30PM). Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Flexibility to work additional hours and days other than normally assigned days when workload permits.
