Our Water Utilities team boasts an extensive portfolio working on high profile, challenging projects, providing multidisciplinary solutions to Infra / Non-Infra water and wastewater schemes. From feasibility studies and modelling, to design and site supervision, we bring together the talent and expertise necessary to deliver success.

 

 

Our established Water Utilities team delivers projects for South East Water and for other water utilities clients across the UK. We are growing to meet our clients needs and are actively recruiting at various levels.

 

 

This role is for a Project Manager to work in our Client head offices in Kent in a co-located and collaborative team with responsibility for below ground (clean water) infrastructure projects within the capital delivery programme.

 

 

To act as the responsible project manager for a portfolio of projects including mains replacement, strategic mains and associated below ground infrastructure (including service reservoirs).

 

 

We expect the candidate to be experienced in clean-water mains delivery across all materials and in large diameters (up-to 1m) with strong project management skills and demonstrable success in delivering complex water mains laying and replacement. We expect the candidate to have a good technical background combined with the skills to ensure project delivery success.

 

 

The post holder would be required to liaise with internal stakeholders and project sponsors ensuring required project outcomes (linked to ODIs) are being met at each stage of the project process.

 

 

The role requires management and co-ordination of project delivery between the engineering design teams, D&B contractors, asset planners, operations, production and HS&E. The below ground delivery team produce works information packages with a design to the D&B Contractors to implement. The PM role overseas work from start to hand-over; managing the design, contract awards, on-site supervision and hand-over of the assets.

 

 

Monitoring progress and reporting to senior management together with deriving clear action plans to maintain quality, achievement of objectives and delivery to cost and programme are an essential part of the role.

Essential:

 

• Degree &/or post-graduate qualifications in a numerate technical or engineering subject.

 

• Chartered (or approaching chartered) Engineer or Project Manager (IMechE, ICE, CIWEM, APM for example)

 

• Proven ability and demonstrable success in managing client requirements through Design and Build work flow on NEC 3 contracts.

 

• Proven ability and knowledge to implement a safety strategy as part of project delivery.

 

• Sound technical and project management background developed within the UK water sector. Familiarity with current industry best practice including practical knowledge of all pipe materials and in large diameters and their limitations alongside knowledge and understanding of network operation.

 

• Knowledge of NRSWA and the processes for implementing mains laying in public highways, private land and supporting the negotiation of wayleaves and easements.

 

• Ability to manage and co-ordinate multiple projects through the project teams, interface with P6 planners to plan annual programme and provide progress and performance updates on each project.

 

• Ability to make sound judgments on both technical and contractual issues and manage responses and action plans attaining internal stakeholder buy-in.

 

• Excellent people management skills with experience of building teams and relationships and of performance management.

 

• Working knowledge of Primavera P6, particularly the method of providing progress updates on time, cost and resources and of analysing critical paths.

 

• Full working knowledge and demonstrable practical application of NEC Engineering and Construction Contract and Professional Services Contracts.
