Project Manager in Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan, United States

The project manager will lead the construction and/or renovation of large commercial/corporate projects within the plan to develop in Detroit, Michigan. The project manager is the principal representative responsible for all matters pertaining to the project and project execution in accordance with the contract and the projects safety, quality, schedule and financial goals. Prior knowledge/experience of Detroit based projects is an advantage.Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Understand, communicate and exemplify Corporate Core Values and Safety directives.
  • Develop project execution plan and delegate appropriately.
  • Ultimate responsibility for project delivery.
  • Project financial forecasting, profit/loss and cash flow responsibility.
  • Quantify major work activities and evaluate progress.
  • Develop project schedule and incorporate changes with an emphasis on mitigating impacts.
  • With an emerging project problem, lead the team in developing a recovery plan.
  • Develop and lead the VA/VE process.
  • Establish labor and material budget from an estimate.
  • Manage development of complete bid packages to include thorough scopes of work.
  • Oversee project specification review.
  • With Engineering, lead the project drawing review for completeness and constructability.
  • With Purchasing, evaluate sub-contractors in accordance with corporate process.
  • Establish and implement RFI process, drawing logs and shop drawing logs.
  • Establish and maintain an open issues matrix and lead the team to resolution.
  • With Purchasing, Engineering and Finance review, negotiate and approve all field authorities, bulletins and scope changes.
  • Conduct pre-bid meetings, pre-award meetings and pre-construction meetings.
  • Facilitate implementation of the contractor invoice/payment process.
  • BS Degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience with at least three (3) years in project management, OR an MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of eight (8) years of engineering experience with at least three (3) years in project management experience.
  • 10 years as lead on projects preferred
  • Demonstrated competence in project management and technical competence in discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies practices.
  • Experience on projects with managed volume of $100 million or grater preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and good communication skills are required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Preferred experience with large-scale renovation projects within the City of Detroit or similar municipalities.
  • Skilled in Outlook, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD (basic)
  • Good team working and listening skills
  • Dynamic mindset to propose new ideas and follow the flow of the work
  • Strong communication skills

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekend testing requirements.

When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
