Job Description

The construction division of Kentz specializes in the construction and/or design of conventional oil and gas facilities, oil sands
and heavy oil facilities, petrochemical plants and power plants. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our business looking after a major Brownfield and Greenfield construction project in Iraq


  • Responsible for addressing and resolving contract issues
  • Submit and manage RFI's
  • Track project scope creep. Appropriately address scope changes with impacts to cost/schedule or quality with the client
  • Review, submit and follow up on issues involving change management
  • Review schedules and submit to client and corporate
  • Plan resources to meet schedule milestones
  • Effectively manage project time, materials, and equipment
  • Set and monitor project crews and discipline productivity
  • Accurately forecast project costs to completion
  • Communication:
  • Key interface with the client Project Manager
  • Liaise with Construction Manager on project execution
  • Chair weekly progress meetings with the client
  • Chair weekly progress meetings with the subcontractors
  • Supply weekly and monthly progress, current financial and forecast reports to the client and corporate
  • Issue weekly meeting / progress meeting minutes as required
  • Ensure that proper polices and procedures are followed
  • Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and expectations
  • Participate in daily/weekly/monthly safety meetings, safety committees and site inspections
  • Support a positive and responsible safety culture at the worksite
  • Be familiar with OH&S legislation as it relates to project work
  • Be a mentor for Jr. workers and staff
  • Quality:
  • Manage subcontractors deliverables are in compliance with company Quality Plans and procedures
  • Ensures Cord/Client quality practices and procedures are followed by the project team
  • Financial:
  • Identify and capture changes to the work
  • Expedite timely payment of project invoices
  • Approve subcontractor invoices
  • Review and approve all project specific equipment rental agreements
  • Staff and Work Assignments:
  • Set and monitor the achievement of schedule targets and production.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and provide support for career development
  • Participate and promote a productive and effective team environment
  • Able to effectively transfer knowledge and mentor staff

Education and Skills

  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Expert in field and capable of providing direction to Discipline Leads
  • 15+ yrs relevant industry experience in oil & gas construction environment
  • Recognised Degree or Equivalent in Engineering, PMP
  • Ensures client HSE policies and procedures are applied and followed
  • Able to read and interpret applicable government regulatory legislation. Responsible for ensuring that project work is carried as per all applicable
  • OH&S standards
  • Competent in Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Primavera, Power Point
  • Working knowledge of Project Controls processes and Scheduling databases
  • Proven Team player
  • Provide support to peer group
