Principal Consultant / Associate Director - Environmental Impact Assessment (Nuclear Sector) in Fangcheng, Guangxi, United Kingdom

Due to our continuing success in the Nuclear and wider infrastructure sectors we are looking to recruit a senior professional who can demonstrate proven experience at Principal Consultant or Associate Director level to make a major contribution to our reputable and successful team. The successful candidate will bring a demonstrable track record in the nuclear sector as well as experience delivering environmental support for a wide range of high profile major projects from a variety of sectors that may also include aviation, offshore wind, urban regeneration, grid connection and transport related projects.

Key Responsibilities

The role requires excellent communication skills.  On a project basis, you will be expected to act as our key client contact on technical and project management issues via a range of interactions including face-to face engagement.  Excellent writing and document review skills are essential.  You will be responsible for the appraisal and informed analysis of inputs from technical subject matter experts (internal and external) prior to delivery of responses to our clients. You will need to work collaboratively within a team, seeking technical input from other disciplines to deliver carefully considered and balanced solutions to produce high quality work.

You will be responsible for:

  • Project managing the delivery of EIAs for major infrastructure projects
  • Working with other technical teams and co-ordinating technical inputs
  • Undertaking consultation with stakeholders as a key Wood representative that can influence stakeholder responses in a balanced and proportionate manner 
  • Line managing a team of consultants to deliver a portfolio of EIAs in different sectors
  • Supporting business development and strategic thinking through the identification and development of new opportunities


Skills / Qualifications

You will be a self-starter and a proactive and collaborative EIA practitioner with: 

  • A proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver EIA projects, preferably in the major infrastructure sector
  • Demonstrable nuclear permitting experience (EIA/DCO)
  • Strong EIA skills and experience of providing technical leadership with an attention to detail that ensures a high-quality product
  • Experience in managing direct and indirect inputs to projects including work undertaken by sub-contractors
  • Project management experience that enables you to interact in an informed manner with internal and external parties on matters including HSE provisions, project financial controls, scheduling and planning, business management processes, internal and external stakeholder management and project risks and mitigation.
  • Demonstrable record of developing and securing new business

You will have some or all of the following qualifications:  

  • A degree (or equivalent), in a relevant environmental discipline, with a strong emphasis on EIA and or Planning
  • Postgraduate qualification in environmental science/planning (or related field of study)
  • Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
  • Full driving licence
