EOI - Project Controls Lead in Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Wood is seeking Expressions of Interest for an experienced Project Controls Lead who aspires to be part of a team, delivering strong results. This role is responsible for the provision of all aspects of the Project Controls function within one of our clients O&G LNG package groups.

Effectively managing the running of the Project Controls team, ensuring regular liaising with the Contract Manager, the Project Controls Manager and the Client, delivering oil & gas engineering projects from the Wood Perth Western Australia CBD office.

As Project Controls Lead for the Wood Asset Solutions engineering division, local Australian knowledge and experience of the onshore and offshore O&G / LNG sector is highly desirable.

•         Responsible for the Project Controls function on assigned contracts and the provision of all aspects of project planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating to Wood project delivery teams and customers.

•         This is a senior position that requires specialist knowledge of project services practices within and external to Wood and leadership of personnel on the assigned contract. The emphasis of the position is on project delivery, compliance with organisation policies and procedures combined with the implementation of best project management and control practices.

•         Experience and knowledge of multiple functions Contracts & Procurement, Finance and Commercial, Project Management, Construction/Implementation and Operations.

•         On a daily basis reports to the Contracts manager and functionally to the Project Controls Manager.

•         Focuses on project delivery and the adoption of best practices in the areas of cost control, estimating, planning, change management and scheduling.

•         Assists in the training, development and motivation of project controls personnel within constraints of specific organisational goals, budgets and target dates.

•         Supports the implementation of performance measurement programmes that provide an accurate reflection of project performance at a project and programme level.

•         Provides a contract focal point for all project and delivery managers and supervisors in the resolution of project controls issues.

•         Client primary focal point for all project controls matters within the contract environment.



Skills / Qualifications

  • Has at least 10 years experience in project controls, and typically supervises 5+ direct reports.
  • Requires good leadership, people management and motivational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as is also strategic thinking who can contribute to the management and improvement of the overall project controls operation both within the contract and wider project controls organisation.
  • Work behaviours enhance the Companys reputation with the client. Demonstrates technical expertise and the ability to influence and challenge others to behave in ways consistent with the interest of the organisation.
  • Identifies the primary task in a team situation and maintains clear focus to achieve results. Demonstrates sound, fact-based decision making, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors to help project teams achieve goals.
  • Able to understand changing trends and developments within the project controls arena and understand and communicate their impact to the business.
  • Innovator and solution orientated mentality that is reflected in the performance of project controls team to achieve delivery goals.
  • Actively develops relationships with customers and Wood entities via regular contact and involvement. Demonstrates ability to develop long and short term service relationships.
