Our client is a fuels technology research organisation who is currently looking to recruit a Expert Development Technologist - diesel fuels for their R&D facility in Berkshire.
The Expert Technologist is recognised as an expert in an area of expertise within his/ her function. They will develop connections within the company and externally to provide access to innovative thinking from a wide range of technologically diverse sources of innovation. The Expert Technologist also develops and influences technology strategies for the use of materials in product development.
The role requires extensive interaction with a wide range of stakeholders including the technology suppliers, Research, Product Development teams, Safety & Testing Operations team, and external establishments. The role also entails coaching, guiding and mentoring other team members and leading initiatives (e.g. master classes) to facilitate knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities will include:
To source, investigate and develop relevant technologies for GFT, having the vision to recognise the long term value of opportunities.
To manage a portfolio of technology projects, including planning, execution, documentation, advising and presentation to stakeholders.
Participate in the Offer Development and Innovation process as appropriate
To direct the work of less experienced team members
Develops wide range of partnership links within the organisation, actively seeking opportunities to extend network of useful contacts.
Develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders externally and internally including the technology suppliers.
Identify and manage testing facilities as required
Coach and mentor less experience team members
To manage intellectual property associated with these projects (secrecy agreements, patents etc)
Applicants should hold a Degree in a Chemistry or Engineering discipline and ideally have a Post-Graduate qualification in a related subject area; PhD level applications will be favourably considered. The successful candidate will have a deep technical expertise in fuel development, with a specialisation in the area of diesel fuels and a strong track record in the area of fuels technology.
Project Management skills are also essential and experience of the following areas therein would be advantageous - use of stages & life-cycle, selection, planning, cost estimating, risk management, performance management and delivery assurance.
