Senior Process Engineer in QA-Doha, Qatar

Wood is establishing a branch of Wood Group UK Limited in Doha, Qatar to provide engineering services in the State of Qatar. The office will support Woods worldwide Centres of Excellence, with service provision across our Capital Projects, Operations Services and Technical Consulting Solutions (TCS) offering.

To support the new engineering office, Wood are looking to engage personnel for key positions within the team. Alongside executing the in-country aspects of our projects, the team will be required to support the establishment and growth of the new Office, engaging with key clients for new work opportunities, liaising with the wider Wood business to promote our expertise in country and helping to recruit and developing additional team members within their discipline. As such, the permanent position opportunity is not specifically related to, or time constrained to, a project duration.

The new office will be led by the resident Operations Manager, reporting to Woods London Office. Technical in country management will be led by the resident Technical Manager. Project execution and technical disciplines will report via the Technical Manager to the Operations Manager

Reflecting the market focus for the office in both brownfield and green field opportunities, multi-skilled personnel are sought, those with experience in:

  • Onshore Oil and Gas
  • Offshore Oil and Gas
  • Flow assurance

Responsibilities

  • Produce, review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, process engineering datasheets and drawings to specify the process engineering requirements of our projects
  • Supervise less experienced process engineers where required
  • Follow company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Lead Process Engineer
  • Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise
  • Demonstrate, provide and develop appropriate technical solutions for specific project issues
  • Ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision-making skills
  • Take a proactive approach to personal & professional development
  • Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work
  • Demonstrate appreciation of commercial and technical risks, managing these appropriately within own work and highlighting any significant issues to Lead Process Engineer
  • Seek and support opportunities for department and project improvement and contribute to developing solutions



Skills / Qualifications

  • Chemical Engineering degree
  • Where possible, be enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, First Category
  • If not enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, then candidates must be a Chartered Engineer
  • Proven core Process Engineering skills, including design experience and preferably in the Oil & Gas sector
  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness
  • Ability to impact and influence fellow workers
  • Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives
  • Display analytical and innovation skills to manage new technology

 Applicants are required to:

  • Be available for work in Doha, Qatar from May 2020
  • Have demonstrable experience of working within a small project office or team, supporting cross discipline activities beyond their core discipline
