Lead Planner in Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Wood is seeking to appoint an experienced Lead Planner who aspires to be part of a team, delivering strong results. This role is responsible for the provision of all aspects of the planning and scheduling function across Wood project delivery team. Effectively managing the running of the planning team, ensuring regular liaising with the Contract Manager, the Project Controls Manager and the Client, delivering oil & gas engineering projects from the Wood Perth Western Australia CBD office.

As Lead Planner for the Wood Asset Solutions engineering division, local knowledge and experience of the onshore and offshore O&G / LNG sector is highly desirable.



Skills / Qualifications

  • Lead the planning team and ensuring that all tasks have been appropriately assigned.
  • Understand all relevant Contract specific documents relating to planning and scheduling.
  • Provide the Project Controls Lead with necessary feedback on the teams performance.
  • Address any feedback on team performance from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide key reporting deliverables to enable the contract and Wood to deliver a portfolio of work POB Profiles, Resource Histograms, IAP Plans and support reporting requirements as defined.
  • Represent Wood and the planning team professionally with the client. Interface with the client in an effective and respectful manner, to achieve identified goals.
  • Provide leadership for planning processes across the contract project portfolio.
  • Identify the primary task in each team situation and maintains clear focus to achieve results.
  • Demonstrate sound, fact-based decision making, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors to help teams achieve goals.
  • Able to manage approx. 10 professionals within the project controls team. Demonstrates effective delegation and team development and a focus on productivity and chargeability.
  • Able to prioritise workload amongst competing demands.
  • Provide leadership for planning processes across the contract project portfolio.
  • Be able to distribute team workload and identify any requirement for people resources
  • Set clear expectations for individual planners and provide ongoing coaching and support Produce regular and useful schedules and histograms related to the contract and delivery management teams in accordance with the agreed update cycle and the project reporting calendar and on an as required basis.
  • Ensure project S-curves reflect the project baseline in accordance with the agreed schedule and manhours.
  • Baseline the project schedule at the time of approval by the client of funding for the project.

Qualifications

  • Degree in relevant technical or business discipline or can be substituted by suitable trade or industry experience.
  • 10+ years experience in a similar role ideally in an EPCM engineering delivery environment.
  • Expert competence in MS Office Suite and Wood project controls tool set (i.e. Imperium and Primavera P6).
  • Considerable experience in brownfields oil and gas projects
  • Good understanding of project management principles and techniques.
  • Experience in the leadership of personnel with up to 10 direct reports.
  • Extensive understanding of Planning, Earned Value Analysis and Change Control.
