Job Description

Responsible for:
Delivering piping design input for projects and liaising with pipe support coordinator, stress engineering, model manager & 2D CAD group.

Main purpose of the job:
• Act as Piping Lead Designer
• Plan, schedule and execute discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating when requested
• Manage discipline work to the required schedule and manpower allocation, including requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and day-to-day supervision of piping discipline personnel on the project; this includes approval of timesheets, holiday approval and overtime approval where delegated
• Liaise with CAD coordinator, projects, client, fabricator/installation contractor to determine piping project reporting needs
• Ensure the piping project reporting format adheres to MustangHDP and Client standards & procedures
• Review Basis of Design (BOD) & Project Execution Plan (PEP)
• Ensure time accounting is accurate for employees assigned to projects
• Report on work status /problem areas/needs on a weekly basis
• Piping 3D model and/or 2D package quality and completeness
• Review 3D model and/or 2D piping package to confirm adherence to MustangHDP and Client standards & procedures
• Utilise 3D design software tools as appropriate.
• Perform periodic overall model reviews to assure level of content
• Review for overall completeness, general safety issues, access and egress, materials handling scheme is being adhered to, maintenance and operability, etc.
• Ensure the project piping team is meeting the requirements for formal and informal Engineering/Client 3D model review(s) as per MustangHDP/Client procedures
• Work with 3D CAD Coordinator to assure that project is closed out properly upon completion
• Liaison with and reporting to Project Management and Client

Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong PDS design skills
• Competent equipment building and piping modeling experience
• Capable of supervising others in PDS model development
• Capable of managing man-hours, production schedules and client interface
• Oil / Gas facility, Refinery or Petro-Chemical plant layout and design experience
• 15+ years of experience with 5 years as a design lead
