Purpose:


Worley is currentlylooking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a team.


Responsibilities:


 


  • Performs specification and selection of mechanical equipment to meet project criteria

  • Initiates communication between mechanical package engineers and other appropriate engineering and design disciplines to ensure equipment information matches latest available from equipment vendors

  • Support project management personnel with regular reporting, scheduling, staffing planning and coordination

  • Ensure that the technical content of the inquiry/PO is appropriately reviewed, approved, and transmitted

  • Plans and participates in any inspection/testing activities associated with their respective equipment packages; Also assist less experienced personnel with this effort to assist in skill development

  • Conducts engineering cost, feasibility, and planning studies analyzing customer needs and data including researching, investigation, and coordination with other engineers and providing recommendations to the client

  • Coordinate and cooperate with the lead engineers of other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of all information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements

  • Conduct weekly status meetings with the mechanical team to convey department news, assess and discuss project issues, coordinate/plan key milestone efforts, etc.

  • Responsible for obtaining cost related information and developing scope of work documents for estimates

  • Coordinate 3D Modeling effort with Lead Vessel Designer and Disciplines to support Model reviews

  • Establish/maintain proper interface with Client's representatives throughout the life of the project

  • Define and provide input on staffing and scheduling for the team's engineering and design effort

  • Ensure that the technical content of the inquiry/PO is appropriately reviewed, approved, and transmitted

  • Reporting on equipment status to the project manager and department manager, and performing monthly or bi-weekly assessments of progress

  • Initiate PDNs (Project Deviation Notices) that impact the mechanical effort-hour budget and/or schedule

Ensure that minimum consistency requirements are metfor all deliverables, including packages prepared by Work-share offices

What youwill bring


Required Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of large, complex offshore project experience (GoM)
  • Minimum of 7 years of Offshore Construction Greenfield and Brownfield experience: MTOs, Material Logistics, Layouts, welds, coatings, HRs, grating, etc.
  • Familiarity with various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each
  • Detail knowledge of Packaged Equipment
  • Broad knowledge base in rotating machinery, heat transfer equipment, and pressure vessels
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI)
  • Knowledge of Modular Design.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across the organization as well as for mentoring and consensus building.
  • The successful candidate must exhibit an understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflow.
  • Keen safety awareness

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • PE Certification
