Material Coordinator in TT-Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

Massy Wood is recruiting for a Material Coordinator with extensive experience in the oil, gas and energy sector.

The incumbent is required to ensure that the warehouse delivers in a timely and cost effective manner, the tactical and strategic objectives of the business, including but not limited to the following:

  • Liaison with the Material Co-Ordinators, Procurement and Warehouse and Logistics Contractors to co-ordinate the prioritised call-off of materials to satisfy the Clients/internal demand plan.
  • Effective Communication with the Procurement team & the Project Fabrication Contractors to expedite deliveries, schedules, arrange returns, notify of complaints or rejections.
  • Communication with the HSSE Team to ensure timely pre-mobilisation checks where required.
  • Lead the Off Shore Materials Officers  in generating and coordinating material returns from work locations.
  • Providing input to and / or preparation of weekly reports to SCM Manager
  • Ensuring that all preservation strategies as agreed with the Client are implemented.
  • Reviewing performance feedback in respect of materials and services providers;
  • Personally abide by ethical practice in all dealings with company vendors.
  • Perform all other job-related functions as required
  • Maintains warehousing, operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all international standards and ensures adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Works in conjunction with the Inventory Management team to schedule and execute ongoing cycle counting, semiannual and annual physical counts, and reconciliation of same in accordance with the agreed time lines.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides guidance as needed to the Warehouse Supervisor with respect to scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains warehouse staff by assisting with the recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching and mentoring employees;  planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Ensures that personnel certifications are kept current in accordance with internal or international regulations.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Professional SCM accreditation such as CIPS, CPM
  • Five (5) years minimum experience within the Oil & Gas industry three of which must be at a supervisory level or higher
  • Experience with SAP would be an asset
  • On / offshore materials co-ordination experience
  • Experience operating a computerised Materials Control system
  • Experience interfacing with Suppliers, Engineering, QA/QC, Document Control, Procurement, and Client representatives
  • Ability to synthesise complex or diverse information
  • Ability to communicate and work  effectively, prioritise and develop realistic action plans in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly
  • Proficient in Computer Applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Word & Excel).

An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
