Job Description
General Maintenance Technician / Millwright, Afghanistan

The Millwright / “ General Maintenance Technician” Afghanistan will manage and conduct the general maintenance of site machinery, equipment, and facilities and should have experience in Generator repair and maintenance, as well as being able to turn their hand to other types of maintenance work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Manage Supervisors and Technicians and their work schedules, ensuring that they follow SOP’s.
-Maintenance and construction of industrial machinery such as – but not limited to – central HVAC systems, split unit air conditioning systems, refrigerated containers and self-contained cold rooms, all industrial type kitchen equipment, power distribution systems, generation plants, switch gear.
-Maintains or constructs industrial machinery such as that which would be related to assembly lines, also pumps, valves, fuel delivery systems etc.
-An understanding of the primary purposes of installing, maintaining, upgrading and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishment.
-In the course of work, may be required to move, assemble and install machinery and equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
-Should also have a good understanding of fluid mechanics - Hydraulics and pneumatics, and all of the components involved in these processes, valves, cylinders, pumps, compressors, etc.
-Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, to construct foundations for and to assemble and dismantle machinery and equipment, using hand and power tools, and to direct workers engaged in such endeavours.

QUALIFICATIONS
-A mechanical engineering qualification and experience in different areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding etc.
-Remote site / arduous conditions experience

Desirable:
-ISO 9001, 1400 compliant. Project management skills.

This is a permanent role, working on a rotation of 3.5 Months On / 3.5 Weeks Off. All travel, accommodation, insurance, medical cover, food and laundry are provided.
