REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


Reports directly to the Plant Manager. 


    


POSITION PURPOSE


Under the general direction of the PlantManager and in coordination with the O&M services contract, this positionis responsible for the general maintenance activities of the plant as well as directingthe technical activities required for inspection condition monitoring, predictivemaintenance, and maintenance and improvement of plant systems and reliability.  .   Theprimary responsibility of this job is to supervise and conduct maintenance andI&C functions safely, reliably, efficiently and in full compliance with allapplicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Supervise day-to-day maintenance teamactivities based upon general priorities set forth by the Plant manager.



Develop, implementand monitor the plant predictive maintenance programs, to include oil samplingand analysis, transformer oil sampling and analysis, vibration data analysisand thermography. Direct maintenance and I&C staff, as well as contractorsto perform the activities necessary to implement the plants programs; assurethat applicable reports are received and reviewed in a timely manner,documented in the CMMS for equipment history and that appropriate and timelycorrective actions are taken.


Uses plant CMMS to maintain plantmaintenance records and history; ensures that plant/equipment deficiencyreports from maintenance and operations personnel are converted to work orders,properly classified by type and priority.



Co-administers inventory control and stockwith Plant Administrator. Directs periodic physical inventory counts andupdates inventory data. Assist in preparation of materials requisitions toreplenish inventory.



Meets periodically with Operations Manager,Plant Manager and maintenance staff to prioritize and plan maintenanceactivities.



Defines resource needs for plantmaintenance activities. Identifies resources, requests and reviews contractorand material quotes and proposals, and assists in selection and scheduling ofresources.



Monitors projects in regards to schedule,manpower, material needs, and safety as assigned.



Identifies design improvements and/or problems;recommends and installs modifications necessary for resolution.



Follows safety/environmental rules andregulations. Implements safe working practices and immediately identifieshazards and recommends and/or implement repairs.


Works with outside contractors duringoverhauls or at other times, as required. Assigns plant personnel to act ascontractor liaison. Works closely with plant operations personnel to establishenergy isolation and proper work permitting for maintenance activities.Participates in contractor pre-job safety briefing, and periodically reviewswork permits.



Trains others to gain knowledge asrequired. Provides training of new hires, as needed.  Receives training to further knowledge,prepare for advancement and maintain safety awareness.



Assists in the investigation of plantproblems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events; provides input andrecommendations for reports and follow-up plans.



Writes, reviews and revises maintenance andrelated procedures.



Troubleshoots equipment and systems, andprovides/performs corrective action. Performs failure analysis to determine the cause of equipment/systemmalfunction.




Available to work overtime both scheduledand unscheduled, on days off and beyond regular work schedule and to performshift work, including holidays,  nightsand weekends, when required. 



Attends to housekeeping at the end of eachjob/task.  Responsible for maintaining theplant (ex: personal desk, department and plant areas) in a clean and neatmanner. Ensure that housekeeping is an ongoing part of all maintenanceactivities by periodic inspection of work areas and work in progress.



Performs other duties as required.



Follows all safety/environmental policies,procedures, rules and participates in training.  Promotes the Companys HSE vision throughactions and conduct.



Follows all Company policies andexpectations and behaves in a manner that promotes the Companys values andpositively effects morale.  



Performs repair and maintenance workfollowing blueprint sketches, technical manuals, and procedures.



Identifies mechanical design, machineryimprovements or problems and recommends modifications necessary for resolution.




Follows safety/environmental rules andregulations. Implements safe working practices and immediately identifieshazards and recommends and/or implement repairs.


Performs power plant rigging and operateslifting equipment necessary for safe handling of heavy machinery and materials.



Certify as a Crane Operator and attendrigging training.



Trains others to gain knowledge asrequired. Provides training (safety and mechanical maintenance) for new hiresand for refresher items. Receives training to further individual knowledge andprepares oneself for advancement.


Assists in the investigation of plantproblems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events; and provides input andrecommendations for reports and follow-up plans.




Troubleshoots equipment and systems, andprovides/performs corrective action. Performs failure analysis to determine thecause of equipment/system malfunction.



Will develop or assist in the developmentof work packages for projects and outage repairs.  Will perform as contractor coordinator asrequired on projects and maintenance outages.



Completes all training/qualificationsrequired to be a Mechanical Technician.



Must be able to work scheduled hours,overtime both scheduled and unscheduled, on days off and beyond regular workschedule and to perform shift work, including holidays,  nights and weekends, when required.

What you will bring


Technical and Industry Experience 

Ability to read, write and speak in the English language and perform basic mathematical computations; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associates degree/certification in electrical or controls field preferred.

Five years of combined experience as an industrial electrician, maintenance mechanic, or I&C Technician in a power plant environment. At least one-year supervisory experience is desired.

Knowledge of large generators, transformers, 4160/480 volt switchgear and systems, instruments, controls, and relaying equipment.

Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.

Ability to read and understand P&IDs, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

Ability to pass respirator fit tests to use respiratory protective equipment at all times.

Good communication skills both verbal and written.

Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Ability to work at various heights from aerial lifts, ladders and scaffolding, and in areas of high noise and temperature extremes.

Ability to work scheduled hours, overtime both scheduled and unscheduled, on days off, and beyond regular work schedule.  Ability to perform shift work, including holidays, nights, and weekends, when required. Working knowledge of computers, preferably experience with Windows-based programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Project.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following skills; pipefitting, welding, machining, rigging, rotating machine repair, fabrication, machine alignment, piping schematics, mechanical drawings.

Demonstrated ability to locate, troubleshoot, adjust and correct defects in complex mechanical equipment.

Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate work with others on technical subjects across job families.

Ability to work at various heights from aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding, and in areas of high noise and temperature extremes.

Ability to work near high voltages, rapidly moving equipment and in confined spaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbent may be required to work in conditions where hazardous material and /or toxic fumes could be present. Additionally, the incumbent will be exposed to areas of high heat, loud noise, steam, combustible gases, rotating machinery, and other conditions normally encounters in an operating generation facility.
