Description POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for using basic calculations to operate the Lathe or Mill machines to create large numbers of precisely cut or shape parts from metal or other raw materials for assembly of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Abide by all Oil States Energy Services LLC. Safety and Operational Policy and Procedures.
• Review and interpret blueprints, manuals, design sketches or other work instructions to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product; study sample parts to determine dimensions of finished work pieces and equipment setup requirements.
• Calculate the necessary dimensions to measure and mark reference points on material or work pieces for cutting raw material into specified shape or to drill holes where required; inspect work pieces throughout a production run to ensure parts meet design specifications.
• Select appropriate machine settings to operate production equipment to manufacture new products from raw materials using eyesight or manual calculations; select appropriate cutting tool as necessary for the raw material while following established quality and safety standards.
• Machine various thread types per print specifications.
• Machine welded and refurbished parts per print specifications.
• Clean and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on machines, tooling and parts; inspect cutting tools for sharpness and usability; may use various precision measuring instruments to detect malfunctions; advise supervisor of needed repairs or replacements.
• May assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub-units or complete units through operation of mechanical equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Must possess basic computer skills and possess the ability to learn company or industry specific applications and equipment.
• Must possess intermediate math skills including simple geometry and trigonometry.
• Must be able to work as part of a team or independently with little or no supervision.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks in order to meet establish deadlines.
• Must be able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts.
• Must possess intermediate knowledge of tools and machines used to manufacture product
• Must be able to read and speak English
• Must be able to read and interpret prints, design sketches or other work instructions.
• Must be willing to work overtime if needed and take on-call.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three to five years experience working as a Manual Machinist or other similar machinist position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to loud noise, vibrations and bright lights, moving parts and rotating equipment is present.
• Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to various chemicals in the Machine shop environment is present.
• Must be able to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds to shoulder height.
• Must be able to frequently push forces of 30 pounds, pull forces of 100 pounds, bend, stand, kneel, carry, or sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in an environment where safety glasses, steel toe boots and ear plugs are required to be worn at all times.
• Must be able to work in an environment of varying climates including warm, hot and cold temperatures.
• Must have good manual dexterity to perform daily tasks, operate machines or other standard shop equipment.
• Must have vision and hearing within normal range.
