Business Unit Description:

  

To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are seeking a BIM Coordinator in the Cities and Places Group.


Role Outline/Responsibilities:

  

We are looking for an experienced BIM coordinator to join our London Studio. We are looking for someone who can bring their BIM expertise to an exciting Multi-disciplinary team and help shape our BIM strategy!

  


  

The BIM Coordinator plays an important role in the design delivery and design integration of projects delivered by the Buildings business. Using technical experience and excellent people skills, the BIM Coordinator will be responsible for the digital delivery of the multi-disciplinary design for projects.

  

The collective team will produce multi-disciplinary designs and associated deliverables in an integrated and holistic manner using appropriate modelling and associated analytical software; BIM Coordinators play a key role in leading and implementing the design and delivery process.

  


Responsibilities:

A BIM Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • The digital delivery of the BIM models and information management of the design from bid stage to project close out.
  • Acting as a technical interface with our IT support services for the architectural toolset.
  • Supporting the Projects in the delivery of digital outputs within project teams and the seamless sharing of information with the discipline teams.
  • Task level management and of the BIM model.
  • Representing Jacobs in liaising with clients, engineers and other design team members.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent team relationships through successful project execution.
  • Development of a content library suitable for the Structural team and integrated with the ETN library.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical and commercial bid proposals, supporting the BIM Manager in responding to responses to EIR, producing MIDP, TIDP and BEPs

The key objective of a BIM Coordinator on a project is to ensure:

  • Improvement in efficiencies of design
  • Improvement in engagement of design with all parties
  • Progressive assurance to reduce review time and improve communication with the client
  • Lean, efficient design and safe construction
  • Right first-time submissions
  • Stringent control of the design through ProjectWise
  • Working in a collaborative environment
  • Working in a single common data environment and using this system to transmit information and ensure only the latest information is used;

Essential:

  

  • Relevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of buildings.
  • A clear understanding of multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, from bid stage to operation.
  • Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes.
  • The ability to confidently represent Jacobs at external design team meetings.
  • An excellent knowledge of BIM and the ability to implement the use of 3D multi-disciplinary modelling on projects.
  • An understanding of the analytical tools that support the MEP, including the ability to undertake early energy modelling, detailed energy calculations, lighting and daylighting.
  • The ability to integrate digital design information with specialist analytical software.
  • The ability to use modelling and analytical tools to eliminate health and safety risks in the design.
  • A good understanding and experience in using the following software applications is essential:
    • Autodesk Revit (Architectural, Structural or MEP)
    • Autodesk Navisworks, Bentley Systems Navigator or similar
    • Bentley Systems ProjectWise or similar
    • Microsoft Office suite of applications including SharePoint
  • The BIM Coordinator will need to have a good understanding of Uniclass 2015 and ISO 19650.

Recommended:


In addition to the above, it is recommended that the BIM Coordinator has experience in the following:

  • NBS Chorus and the NBS Revit Plugin
  • Microsoft Project or similar
  • Synchro Pro or similar
  • Autodesk Civil 3D, Recap and AutoCAD
  • Bentley Systems MicroStation, AECOsim Building Designer, etc.
  • IFC and COBie
  • Knowledge of other applications such as BIM360, Revizto, Enscape 3D, dRofus and Dynamo would also be an advantage.

                

Candidates will be required to undergo a knowledge assessment as part of the interview process. The assessment will test the candidates:

  

  • Awareness of Stage 2 BIM (ISO19650);
  • Implementation of Stage 2 BIM (ISO19650);
  • Practical BIM Fundamentals, BIM Authoring, BIM Software Management (Uniclass 2015) and BIM Coordination;
  • ProjectWise Explorer knowledge;
  • Content Creation skills;
  • And knowledge across a range of Revit Architecture, MEP and Structure functionality.
