Technical Executive, Electrical & Instrument in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia

Job Purpose

To lead and provide technical support execution of works that regards to Electrical and Instrumentation scope of works during execution of the project and to ensure project delivery according to the schedule, specifications, standards, material management and good safety practice.

To provide technical supports, guidance and training to the junior executives and supervisors in the department for the better work productivity, efficiency and high competency.

Responsibilities

1) Operations

  • Execute Electrical / Instrumentation Construction end-to-end operational activities to ensure operational excellence ; compliance to relevant policy, regulation and standard; minimize business risk; and meet customers’ requirements.
  • Project management control that include project planning & scheduling and cost, construction, productivity, contractual and project completion of the assigned project.
  • Counter check material take-off, MTO based on the project issued drawings and raise up any shortfall.
  • Monitor status of drawings issuance, set priorities based on construction erection sequence and check quality of the drawings.
  • Prepare subcontractor’s subcontracting scope of work and participate in tender briefing, TBE, Technical Clarification and Tender Appraisal.
  • Conduct morning tool box briefing with team members at site.
  • Monitor, control and improve production productivity.
  • Guide and lead the subordinates and subcontractors at site to meet project schedule.
  • Monitor and control construction workmanship, quality and safety.
  • Monitor and verify Red line mark-up.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other departments/sections for successful of construction works.
  • Prepare work method statement, JHA and project procedures.
  • To confirm all activities executed and carried out in accordance to the contract and specification requirement.
  • To perform other official works as requested by HOD or immediate supervisor.
  • Provide technical and service to project construction.
  • Perform other official works as requested by Head of Department or immediate superior.

2) Operational & Cost Improvement Initiatives

  • Control and monitor operational and cost initiatives in procedures, systems & processes, adopting industry best practices, competencies and capabilities to drive operational excellence and cost efficiencies.
  • Control and monitor the facilities and equipment at site.
  • Manpower control and supervision.
  • Material surplus and wastage.

3) Capability Building

  • Execute and maintain technical and commercial capabilities and competencies in the full Electrical / Instrumentation Construction spectrum (Bidding and Construction) to ensure MMHE meets its current and future business objectives and fulfil its business obligations to its customers.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled improvement trainings by the superiors.
  • Initiate and implement an improvement initiative.

4) QHSE

  • Enforcement of safety rules and regulation inclusive ensuring the housekeeping at worksite is being maintained. Carry out duties in safe manner with regard to health and environment.
  • Compliance to QHSE Policy and Procedures.
  • To attend safety meeting and conduct safety briefing to subordinates and sub-contractor.
  • To take appropriate action when notice any unsafe practice / condition.
  • Participate in department and project QHSE programs.

5) Work Culture

  • Create and maintain a healthy and conducive work culture in the Instrumentation Construction that encourages cohesiveness and commitment among staff and promotes a global championship mind-set to improve productivity and to maintain high standards of service.

6) Leadership

  • Provide leadership to motivate and to nurture potential qualified supervisors for breakthrough performance to take MMHE to greater heights.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma Holder in Electrical and/or Instrumentation Engineering or other related engineering with 3 years’ experience in heavy engineering or maritime industry.
  • Demonstrate competencies in planning & monitoring, detail construction, technical & negotiation capability and people skills.
  • Organized, pro-active with deliverables & solutions, team player and readiness to go extra miles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, people management and communication skills in liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Readiness to take on new responsibilities as assigned by superior in line with department developments.
