Regional Human Resources Business Partner in Portland, ME, United States

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Americas is seeking a Regional Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a strategic partner working closely with Regional Operations Manager and Office Managers providing Human Resources advice. This position will cover an employee population of approximately 500 employees in the Northeast US, including 6 main office locations and other satellite offices. This position reports to the Senior Human Resources Manager for our East US Group.  Start date for the role is January, 2020.

Work Location: Wood office in either Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania or New Jersey preferred; other Northeast US office locations may be considered.

Our successful candidate will be a true business partner to managers and team leadership; understanding their people, organization and business needs, issues, vision and challenges.  You will be the lever for delivery of core HR services providing support and advice.  You will enable and support leaders to achieve the shared vision and business goals across the life-cycle of on-boarding, retention, compensation, employee engagement, employee relations, employment law and learning and development.

You will work with other HR Business Partners across the US to maintain consistency within the function and support line management with:

  • development of workforce planning
  • talent management and succession plans
  • identification of employees for leadership development
  • employee relations
  • compensation and benefits advice
  • execution of business cultural and change initiatives; and identification of learning opportunities.
  • initiating organization structure changes, people movements, changes to employee conditions of employment and terminations


Skills / Qualifications

  • Must Possess a Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
  • 7 + years experience in an HR Generalist position
  • PHR or SPHR certified desired
  • Previous Business Partner or HR Advisory experience in ideally an Engineering Consultancy environment
  • Experience working with a global multinational company with diverse service offerings
  • Knowledge of various state and federal laws regarding employment and general personnel practices
  • Ability to partner with, counsel and coach Senior Leaders and Managers in multiple locations
  • Excellent coaching and training skills
  • Solutions driven and able to manage varying task with shifting priorities
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Will be required to travel on an as needed basis approx. 15%
