Regulatory Coordinator in AU-VI-Melbourne, Australia

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PNG Regulatory Coordinator to join our team. The position is preferably based in either Brisbane or Melbourne supporting a number of PNG Foundation Projects. This role will be on a part-time, 12-month contract basis only.

Creation of this position is aimed at ensuring the companys regulatory obligations are fulfilled, the provision of regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders and to work with both our client and Regulators to ensure that regulatory requirements are understood and fulfilled. The role will also manage ongoing compliance monitoring and reporting of relevant regulatory requirements.

 

Responsibilities

In relation to a number of PNG Foundation Projects this role will have;

  • Responsibility for all Wood project regulatory approvals (construction, access, environmental, operational and other relevant areas)
  • Regulatory coordination of related Wood activities in PNG
  • Establish regulatory coordination processes and systems within the Wood organisation in PNG including preparation and implementation of a Contract Regulatory Compliance Plan
  • Liaise with and work in an integrated manner with the client Regulatory Approvals team
  • Management of all regulatory approval submissions (permits, certificates, minor approvals, licenses and other processes)
  • Identify requirements, liaise with project teams, prepare submissions, liaise with relevant government agencies and submission and follow up and finalisation of approvals and applications
  • Performance or oversight of regulatory agency engagement to support permits and approvals
  • Management of regulatory planning and schedules to support project timeframes
  • Coordinate payment of fees and other costs
  • Management of Regulatory Compliance Register(s)
  • Compliance monitoring and reporting to the client
  • Training to increase awareness of individuals responsibility for compliance
  • Provide regulatory support to Wood Project Teams
  • Work with Wood project teams to understand all relevant future activities. To identify and plan regulatory processes as an integrated project activity
  • Achieve all required project regulatory approvals in a timely manner
  • Monitor and report regulatory compliance for Wood projects
  • Coordinate Regulatory Compliance Assessments independently for Wood and in coordination with the client requirements
  • Interpret and apply regulations that impact Wood and communicate requirements to affected business units
  • Develop and maintain key documents including the Regulatory Compliance Plan, Regulatory Compliance Assessment Protocols, Compliance registers and other regulatory compliance tools
  • Work with Wood business units to ensure that regulatory compliance requirements are understood and that compliance plans are fully executed. Communicate compliance back to the client monthly or as required
  • Ensure Wood compliance with legislation, standards and permit approval conditions
  • Evaluate new and proposed legislation
  • Communicate the implications of new legislation to Wood
  • Assist with interpretation of approval conditions
  • Maintain good working contacts with relevant government agencies
  • Coordinate the development, delivery, and administration of regulatory awareness training.


Skills / Qualifications

  • 10 year+ experience in regulatory management
  • Extensive and proven experience with operating in the PNG Regulatory environment will be highly regarded
  • Previous experience directly managing people and working directly with an assigned client counterpart will be highly regarded
  • Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent
  • Advanced IT skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership in regulatory matters
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Responsive to Wood and the client requests.
