Fire Systems Technician - NICET Certified in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, United States

The Fire Systems Technician 3 / Lead will serve as the Atlanta Airlines Terminal (AAT) Project team lead for the third shift fire systems team. Responsibilities will involve working with and supporting a team of fire systems technicians to complete critical testing, inspection and servicing of fire suppression systems, as well as corrective and preventive system maintenance tasks vital to the safe operation of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA). Position reports to Fire Systems Superintendent.  
Essential Job Functions  
  • Ensure fire suppression systems operate effectively within NFPA, state of Georgia, city of Atlanta Fire Marshal and client requirements
  • Proficient at hands-on troubleshooting, testing, inspection, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair on all wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems, fire pumps, tamper and flow switches, pressure gauges, accelerators and other components of fire suppression systems with minimal supervision from the fire protection superintendent
  • Support and mentor other technicians on the testing, inspection, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems; Independently, as well as through small teams, conduct troubleshooting and repairs on fire suppression systems
  • Clearly communicate direction to other technicians, management team and client representatives as needed
  • Oversee, coordinate and assist with clients utility shutdown processes that may impact fire system performance
  • Record, maintain and evaluate fire system test data Assist with asset data collection required to ensure proper fire suppression system location and equipment information remains current in INFOR Enterprise Asset Management System; Use, care for and be responsible for tools and equipment used to complete the testing, servicing, preventative maintenance, repair and operations to fire systems and equipment at the H-JAIA; Manage outside contractors on behalf of the client to complete special projects in support of the testing, servicing, preventative maintenance, repair and operations of fire suppression systems and equipment at the H-JAIA
  • Ensures outside contractor work is compliant with job, safety and code requirements
  • Promotes and adheres to safe work practices consistent with Jacobs BeyondZero safety and culture of caring programs to include standard hazard recognition and mitigation practices for the testing, preventative maintenance and repair of fire suppression supports systems and equipment
  • Manages self and supports fire suppression team consistent with Jacobs Global Policy, Code of Conduct and commitment to the performance of work at the highest levels of ethics and integrity. 
  • Five years related experience in the field of fire suppression is required
  • Experience working with Notifier or similar systems is required
  • Three years experience working with low voltage electrical systems is required
  • NICET I certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology in Inspection and Testing of Water-based Systems is required
  • Basic typing skills are also required. 

 Preferred Qualifications  
  • Seven years related experience in the field of fire suppression is preferred
  • Five years experience working with low voltage electrical systems is preferred
  • NICET II/III certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology in Inspection and Testing of Water-based Systems is preferred.
