Field Specialist - Carlsbad 14/14 in United States
Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist at the Carlsbad Production Team near Carlsbad, NM through July 29, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This position assumes the responsibility of monitoring and optimization of all production process variables, ensuring that all production equipment is operating at peak reliability and efficiency, and acquiring and storing data. **Successful candidates will be working on the 14/14 schedule (40 hours straight time and 44 hours built in overtime per shift) **
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Actively supports HES processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event
- Knowledge and application of the Managing Safe Work process to ensure contract workforce safely performs tasks to eliminate Serious Incidents & Fatalities. Assures all work performed adheres to Chevrons Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
- Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains oil and gas production equipment to improve production and facility efficiency. Partners with other employees and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
- Perform duties associated with oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to gas lift, plunger lift, rod pumping and flowing wells, and compressors:
- Performs well surveillance activities, including but not limited to well tests and fluid levels to optimize well and artificial lift systems in efforts to improve production efficiency
- Daily data recording and entry into Energy Components (EC) to accurately report production, downtime/constrained events, and other production related data
- Utilizes SCADA system to monitor operational performance, respond to alarms, and correct abnormal conditions.
- Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System (EAM) to create work orders for work planning/prioritization. Communicates with Central Maintenance Planners on closing work orders.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure a highly reliable operation
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of six months current related experience in oil and gas, or related petrochemical industries
- Previous experience with unconventional well performance, multi-well pads, and multi-train facilities
- Ability and willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends and holidays of assigned work schedule and overtime based on work load
- Must be willing to work rotating work schedule (14on/14off) with 12hr shifts to ensure 24hour coverage (day & night shift). Position is part of the Field Specialist A roster and reports to remote field location as point of origin with utilization of living quarters provided near work site required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Must provide own transportation to/from point of origin. Company vehicle to be provided for transportation across work site. Commute privilege consideration to be given at supervisors discretion for living within 50mi of Carlsbad, NM.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent
- Two years current related experience in oil and gas, or related petrochemical industries
- Familiarity with reliability efforts for a variety of safety, environmental and production related issues
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of production and facility equipment
- Familiar with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation
- Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), CMMS, SCADA, and an aptitude for learning new software packages
- Capable of simultaneously performing multiple tasks with limited supervision
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers
- Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and desire to contribute to high performance team
Location Description:
The Carlsbad Production Teams unconventional growth assets line the border between New Mexico and far West Texas on the northern end of the Chihuahuan Desert, with activities occurring in Culberson County (Tx), Eddy County (NM), and Lea County (NM). The dry, high desert climate creates average summer time temperature (hi/low) of 95F/68F and winter time temperatures (hi/low) 58F/28F. The rugged terrain and distance from the work locations to Carlsbad, NM. (1-2hours) presents unique working and living conditions, which necessitates the use of living quarters on/near the work location. The Carlsbad Production Teams production outlook will be a significant driver for MCBU for many years in the future.
