EHS Field Representative

Reporting to the Construction EHS Supervisor – Provides onsite EHS support to construction operations in the area of operations.

The primary role of the EHS Construction Specialist is to provide EHS support to Operations Department on all construction locations. The EHS Construction Specialist will liaison with Construction Management in the daily performance of his duties. The ability to develop relationships and communicate in a complex, multi-tiered environment is a key attribute. An in depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and the company’s policies is requisite to the success of the EHS Specialist.

Objectives:

  • Provide visible EHS leadership and promote safe construction operations.
  • Facilitate implementation of the company’s EHS Management System and EHS Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of all local and flag state regulations.
  • Monitor the contractor’s EHS Systems to ensure that work processes are conducted consistent with both the contractor’s and the company’s expectations of the Management Systems.
  • Supports efforts to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of EHS management systems and processes.
  • Develops effective working relationships with Construction Management personnel to ensure expectations are clearly defined and met.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor ongoing construction operations to ensure EHS expectations are consistently met during work activity.
  • Perform daily audits and inspections to identify potential/existing hazards and deficiencies.
  • Monitor the contractor’s EHS Systems to ensure that work processes are conducted consistent with both the contractor’s and the company’s expectations of the Management Systems.
  • Provide support for the company’s emergency response activities including training, drills, and incident response.
  • Participate and/or facilitate in incident investigation and root cause analysis (TapRoot®), when required.
  • Responsible for the submittal of information and documentation into the Synergi data base and follow up on all Action Items to closure.
  • Provide onsite EHS training and coaching.
  • Attend and participate in all construction-based safety meetings, where practical, ensuring safety topics are discussed and Third Party personnel are participating.
  • Coach all company, contractor, and third party personnel on the proper use and participation in Behavioral Based Safety Programs.
  • Prepare and distribute Daily EHS Report to the company’s management.
  • Ensure Action Items from Synergi, daily inspections, audits, and STOP card observations are tracked appropriately and closed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper handling, segregation, and tracking of waste streams.
  • Engage construction management team to encourage a positive safety culture through Stop Work Authority, hazard identification and reporting, productive safety meetings, and incident reporting and investigation.
  • Promote collaboration between the company and the construction contract companies to achieve positive behaviors and a safe working environment.
  • Ensure proper implementation of Ground Disturbance Program.
  • Be a visible point of contact to all visiting contractors ensuring an affective site orientation and contractor engagement is conducted.
  • Maintain the construction emergency response plan.
  • Monitor locations housekeeping and take corrective actions necessary to maintain a safe and uncluttered work environment.
  • Ensure proper permitting of jobs performed on location.
  • Provide accurate and complete metric data in support of the Key Performance Indicators.
  • Maintain a robust outside presence to provide visibility and promote safe operations and the company/contractor cohesion.
