RESERVOIR ENGINEERING SPECIALIST in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

RESERVOIR ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

JOB PURPOSE:

In a multidisciplinary team, leads the provision of Reservoir Engineering activities through establishing sound reservoir depletion plan and effective supervision and completion of reservoir monitoring, data gathering, technical studies, production forecasting and performance reporting related to SU reservoirs while ensuring effective and timely execution of short, medium, and long-term development plans for all reservoirs in order to facilitate effective reservoir development in line with COMPANY objectives and guidelines.

Provide advises and supports, and interfacing with stakeholders to maximize production efficiently while providing training support to junior engineers to develop skills and competencies. Furthermore, actively engages in the industry technological and scientific evolution to identify and propose to the asset the best technologies, computer applications and work processes to improve performance.

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Across functional teams, lead all parties to work out annual surveillance programs including flow testing, fluid sampling, well testing (PBU/PFO/interference), downhole pressure measurements both dynamic and static, tracer surveys, and cased hole logging.
  • Supervise and lead collecting all required field data, performing QA/QC of the data including production allocation to individual wells and store them safely in the company’s database.
  • Carry out analysis of the surveillance data in order to define well and reservoir parameters such as reservoir permeability, reservoir pressure, formation damage, well productivity and injectivity index.
  • Integrate dynamic and static data by utilizing reservoir management applications such as OFM, Petrel or others to monitor fluid front movement, to generate reservoir isobaric, saturation and productivity index maps, to set up VRR target in order to optimize and maximize reservoir recovery, and identify any anomalous well performance.
  • Perform short and mid-term well and reservoir production forecasts according to company’s guidelines including defining maxim, technical, available and sustainable rates using analytical methods such as decline curve analysis, vertical lift analysis, material balance, streamline analysis or any other available engineering application.
  • Perform regular reservoir performance analysis including reports and presentations at levels of asset, reservoir, sector and well. Organize regular surveillance meetings (daily, monthly, etc.) to share performance analysis findings, propose remedial actions for performance issues, and follow up implementation of action plans.
  • Supervise and lead well testing and production logging program implementations including design, interpretations and finding implementations.
  • Supervise and lead simulation and laboratory studies including PVT, SCAL, IOR/EOR by writing scope of work, collecting data, following up implementation, performing results QA/QC, and field implementation.
  • Supervise and lead constructing, history matching and updating numerical reservoir simulation models (black-oil, compositional, etc.) with appropriate quality control. Also, generating single-well, element and/or sector models by extracting some areas/cross sections from the full field models for fit-for-purpose investigation.
  • As a multi-disciplinary lead in identifying key uncertainties that influence reservoir performance by conducting fit-for-purpose modelling studies for sensitivity analysis. Based on the results, propose as a team additional data acquisition requirements to reduce the uncertainties.
  • Identify opportunities for infill well drilling, workover jobs, well stimulation or any other production enhancement initiative. Follow up on drilling, completions and well intervention activities.
  • Carry out reserves estimations / updates according to company’s guidelines.
  • Explore new oil field technologies in the market, IT environment and best practices for reservoir simulation and management, to identify the ones that can be applied to own stewarded asset. Prepare economically evaluated reservoir development proposals by conducting development optimization studies using various numerical reservoir simulation models. Propose technical specifications for new requirements on wells and surface facilities, with due consideration of existing facilities and well completion schemes/strategies.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, or any other equivalent.
  • 15-18 years of experience, including 15 years of supervisory experience with exposure to all aspects of Petroleum / Reservoir Engineering such as Petroleum Development, Reservoir Management, Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplined team of Engineers & Geo-scientists.
  • Fluent in writing and spoken English.
