Project Engineer E & I, Project Control in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom

The function of the Project Control, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer (PE) is to manage and support the field operations on projects. You will report to the Project Manager, but primary responsibility will be to ensure the supervision and crew have the materials, equipment, and information necessary to complete the job. As an extension of the Project Manager, the PE is ultimately responsible for understanding and accomplishing the customer’s goals while protecting and promoting the interests of My client in all matters. The PE is responsible the ensuring that the Control, Electrical and Instrumentation requirements of all capital projects are delivered technically fit for purpose and compliant with relevant legislation, standards and industry guidelines. This role may require intermittent travel to project sites for occasional meetings and surveys. He/she must be organized, a multitasker and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Duties

  • Provide project control from initial approval to commissioning and handover.
    Develop and deliver Cost, Time, Resource (CTR) quotations.
  • Implement technical processes and procedures with respect to Small Bore Tube (SBT), Instrumentation and Electrical design, installation, flushing & testing/sampling and inspection services in line with Industry Standards and Guidelines
  • Develop work packs for SBT, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control work scopes, as agreed with clients, and perform engineering activities in order to deliver fully developed work packs. This can be survey, inspection, repair, installation, manufacturing, test, flush and commissioning work scopes.
  • In line with Industry Standards and best practise, implement technical processes and procedures with respect to Electrical, Control and Instrumentation System operations, installation, commissioning and repair.
  • Liaise with Customer Focal points to ensure the pro-active management and delivery of the Services, in line with client contracts and individual project/work scopes
  • Prepare project plans and programs to ensure work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and clients satisfaction.
  • Operationally manage site based supervision and engineers while they are working on projects under your management.
  • Liaise direct with clients to inform them of Our client Services and where these services can provide added value.
  • To prepare work packs for execution of Services in accordance with customer requirements and Company procedures.
  • Develop and maintain project schedule and evaluate, organize and prioritise workload within a schedule.
  • Identify and supply pro-active asset management proposals to clients in order that we are adding value to our existing services
  • Ensure client project/work scopes are completed in line with Company/Client Agreed procedures
  • Complete minutes/agreed actions from all client meetings and disseminate to appropriate personnel.
  • Present work scope and asset presentations and deliver to client.
  • To produce economic engineered solutions, considering all aspects from materials to manufacturability, that maximises profitably for Our client whilst satisfying all customer and internal requirements.
  • Attend customer meetings to establish, through negotiation where appropriate, and confirm precise Engineering requirements and integrate this information into work packs in line with client requirements and Our client HSEQ procedures and processes.
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure clarity of understanding of all customer/project requirements.
  • To ensure full compliance, during all engineering and related activities, with regard to sound engineering practice and adherence to relevant internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • To ensure knowledge of industry developments is kept up to date.
  • To ensure development and improvement of existing products and services.
  • To ensure activities within the Division meet agreed target completion dates.
  • Provision of accurate and detailed reports encompassing all aspects of Key Areas of Responsibility.
  • Responsible for assembly and managing of work scope close out documents and procedures.
  • Leading the team in resolving instrument, control & electrical technical issues.
  • Coordinating the efforts of the Sub-Contractor(s) in his area of specialty, ensuring that the Contractor performs diligently all his obligations under the contract (quality, schedule and cost).
  • Quality Assurance/ Control maintaining logs and verifying all items are correct.
  • Initiating the participation of the various internal areas/ groups, ensuring that input to the Contractor(s) is adequate and timely, and in accordance with the roles & responsibilities.
  • Providing technical assistance during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
  • Communicating issues, questions, or concerns to supervisors and project manager.

Administration

  • To be responsible for knowing and understanding the Integrity Management Department targets and objectives
  • To carry out all the relevant administrative duties including management reports and audits.
  • To keep any filing/admin/databases up to date.
  • To adopt a “no surprises rule” and to ensure delivery against agreed objectives and targets.

Essential Experience

  • Relevant, previous experience of working in an engineering environment with design experience in a relevant area
  • Design of small bore tubing/instrumentation, controls & electrical systems
  • Experience of carrying out engineering design, development and manufacture of Hydraulic, Instrumentation, SBT Process Control systems
  • Development of P & IDs and documentation packs.

Development of SBT, instrument & controls and electrical work packs

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a Oil and Gas Service Company environment.
  • Experience working on Hydraulic systems
  • Active participation in engineering reviews and/or investigations with customers
  • PED/ATEX
  • AutoCAD Inventor or similar

Essential skills

  • MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and administration skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional and focused approach at all times, in particular, in customer facing situations
  • Keen attention to detail

Instrumentation / Hydraulic Products & Systems, Application, Installation Test, Flushing & Fluid Sampling.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of materials and processes used within Offshore/Onshore oil and gas and Marine operations
