Where you will be working

Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Maintenance Planner to take ownership of the governance of SAP MPA for three large high-profile mines across the Weipa Operations.  As a key member of the centralised Asset Management team, you will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of asset classes, including heavy mobile equipment, rail assets, beneficiation plants, ship-loaders, wharfs, bridges, ancillary mining services assets, town assets, and other civil infrastructure.

This role is a great opportunity for seasoned maintenance planning professional to take the next step in their career and lead the future direction of our work management processes and to optimise the integrity of our core SAP MPA master data.  Working 44Hr Day Work (Mon-Fri) 5 on 2 off and reporting to the Planning Superintendent, you will have the following opportunities:

  • Develop, establish and embed a suite of MPA governance documentation covering all MPA activities across the Weipa Operations
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to short term planners and maintenance personnel on MPA processes
  • Rebuilding of navigational levels, productive unit hierarchies, and functional location structures and optimisation of SAP MPA master data in the IH01 equipment register;
  • Optimise the structure and content of our planning master data, such as internal and external labour work centres and cost centres, naming conventions, construction types, BOMs, maintenance plans, task lists, secondary task lists, and counters
  • Establish the process for developing yearly budget books for each planner group
  • Establish and embed the mid-month forecasting process and end of month cost reporting process
  • Be responsible for day to day routine master data updates and amendments

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Expert user of SAP MPA
  • A relevant trade or tertiary engineering qualification
  • Extensive experience in maintenance planning in mining
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing ZBB from first principles
  • High level of competency in MS office suite of applications
  • Demonstrated experience in work management and shutdown management
  • An ability to educate and coach maintenance team members
