Electrical Designer, Intermediate in Vancouver, Greater Vancouver, Canada
Wood currently has an exciting opportunity available for an Electrical Designer in our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this opportunity is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Detailed electrical engineering design, including LV and MV power distribution in cable trays, conduits, duct banks, grounding and lighting layouts, electrical room equipment and substation layout, motor control center load assignment and elevation layout, heat tracing, cable schedules, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Designing and drafting of equipment and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
- Aid in the preparation of bill of materials and construction work packages, as required
- Review project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
- Work within project teams with limited supervision
- Maintain good working relationships and communication with area leads and other team members to coordinate design
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design technology from an accredited University or College
- Minimum 5 years direct Pulp and Paper, Mining, or Industrial plant experience
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proven experience using AutoCAD as well as 3D (PDMS, E3D) design tools
- Experience in electrical engineering design database environments (Smartplant Electrical, Aveva Electrical, etc) and automated production of design deliverables.
- Familiarity with LISP, VBA programming for AutoCAD is considered an asset
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment
