About the Role

Substation Engineer - Plymouth travel required in and around the surrounding areas.

A company car will be provided.

You will provide analysis and technical support to ensure the continued safe and reliable construction and maintenance surrounding electrical assets. You will lead various working parties to deliver all aspects of work within a HV electricity substation, working on a variety ofassets including circuit breakers, transformers and protection systems. You will act as a point of contact for engineering and technical escalations and provide a full safe system of work inclusive of all safety documentation.This includes carrying out the role of Senior Authorised Person under the National Grid Electricity Transmission Safety Rules.

You will provide support and assistance to the Team Leader, including dealing with sickness, attendance, discipline, and project delivery performance, you will undertake stand-by and emergency call out duties when required as part of an agreed rota.

You will have the opportunity to take responsibility for the direct control of staff and project expenditure when managing projects, you will monitor, review and progress contracts for unlicensed customers, and for work undertaken by contractors.

About You

You will ideally have experience of effective planning, resource management, communication and supervisory skills to manage and support large groups of staff to achieve the efficient completion of tasks. Demonstrating self-reliance when approaching common work-related problems, you will have a minimum of HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.

With qualifications leading to membership of IET or similar professional body, a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is preferred and a full driving license is required

A certificate in Management Studies would be of advantage.
