Job Description

Brunel Energy currently requires a Cost Engineer their client based in Houston, Texas on a contract basis.

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of standard, consistent and robust cost management frameworks and procedures to the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of consistent but appropriate cost management structures for this large upstream project.
  • Assist with the roll-out of the emerging Company standard tools and processes and apply them on Project.
  • Support the development of project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and their population from the estimate.
  • Assist preparation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and documented Cost Time and Resource (CTR) sheets for phased cost estimates in line with the Shell guidance notes for agreement and sign-off by the CTR budget holders.
  • Assist generation of accurate monthly cost reports, including variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done, management of changes and currency fluctuations against approved Authorities for Expenditure (AFEs).
  • Assist in analysis of trends.
  • Maintain and promote realism in the cost forecasts in the face of commercial pressure and optimism from project teams.
  • Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree and/or certification as a cost engineer or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years Industry experience in a cost engineering role
  • Excellent PC skills with emphasis on database and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles.
  • Capable of managing cost and/or schedule for multiple complex projects.
  • Capable of analyzing and preparing monthly, or more regular, cost reports to express concerns in problem areas.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with the use of standard office software such as Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Access is an advantage.
  • Working experience with SAP is required.
  • Must have a “Team attitude”, be self-motivated and be willing to support other groups and projects when required.
