Role Summary/Purpose:
    A critical role in building a successful business by ensuring we are competitive and responsive to the needs of the market. Will own and manage the core financial tools used to quote, and track the cost progression of each product line: keeping these tools updated and meeting business requirements. Lead the cost-out process and drive initiatives to lower product & system costs and improve cycle time for product design and manufacturing systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
    This role requires astute commercial acumen, technical accuracy and a passion for impact, and demonstrable results via a strong operational focus. Responsibilities include:Responsible for tracking and systematically reducing the cost of bids, design, manufacture, procurement, testing and installation of flexible pipe systems:
  • Benchmark current costs via cost handbook, update standard configurations and tables
  • Support definition of Should Cost or target costs, including direct and variable costs
  • Benchmark and understand our competitors costs, with commercial (ITO) team
  • Manage day-to-day cost reduction programs, led by Product Line Managers
  • Liaise with Sourcing to map new suppliers, to test the impact of sourcing strategies and to build a long-term strategy that delivers cost and value advantage.
  • Support NPI activity on cost-out of new technologies
  • Support Product Leaders and Business Leaders to identify and improve product, process & interfaces to deliver cost advantage
  • Review/support competitive design for manufacture and design-to-cost/value initiatives
  • Provide impact insights into Make vs Buy decisions
  • Responsible for reducing cycle time for delivery of product deliveryBenchmark current cycle time and define target cycle for business processes
    • Support Marketing to benchmark and understand our competitors cycle time capability
    • Support cycle reduction programs supported by Product Managers and Global Supply Chain
    • Ensure Planning team is using accurate cycle time data, which is synchronized with Cost Handbook
    3. Competitive benchmarking
    • Support competitive benchmarking with support from Marketing and Product Line Managers, including product feature benchmarking: SWOT analysis Feature comparisons Preferred/optimum systems Alternative products/technologies Extent of vertical integration Design rules/specifications Qualification4 Input to FEED and Commercial Proposals
    • Align product cost to best-value product and system solutions, deliver transparency in ITO quotations
    • Manage quoting tool and provide input to ensure consistency and accuracy across bids5 KPIs:
    • Build walk of suitable Y-on-Y cost/cycle targets to optimise design-to-value and competitive position
    • Track and report product cost, cycle, penetration and key competitiveness indicators
    • Communicate/interpret key data and metrics for efficient reporting, demonstrating systematic cost and cycle improvement
    • Metrics will include: Market Penetration Cost % reduction Cycle time % reduction
Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical (or similar) Engineering plus
    • Relevant experience in Industrial or Manufacturing business including at least 1 year in a specifically commercial or cost management role
    • Working-level knowledge and understanding of subsea systems
    • Proven track record of achievement to this gradeKey Competencies
    • Technical SkillsThe cost-out lead position requires detailed understanding of business commercial systems and the drivers of both cost and cycle. Experience of cost-out programs is advantageous.
    • Oral and Written CommunicationsExcellent presentation and written skills are required, to enable clear and concise delivery of information to senior staff, customers and contractors. The ability to demonstrate and defend the value case for products / systems and introduced improvements / initiatives as necessary is required.
    • Action and ResultsDemonstrate a readiness to make decisions take initiatives and originate actions; maintaining clarity on when to delegate up or down and communication rhythms. Results will be measured against key platform metrics
    • TeamworkDemonstrates good team working abilities; should be able to arrange and manage events which involve cross-functional teams. Provide leadership and manage interfaces as required to deliver objectives. Clear and considered communication with the functional organization is key to effective Strategic Sourcing, Standardisation and Modularisation and Product Marketing.
    • Customer focusThe ability to maintain customer focus on both internal and external customers is critical. Good customer relationships are to be maintained via Product Line Managers to enable feedback as input into business strategy and future developments.
