MATERIAL / CORROSION / WELDING SPECIALIST - Cladded Pipeline

Start Date : ASAP

Contract Duration : Estimated up to 18 months

Working schedule : 5 days per week/ 7days if Rotational

Job Location : Qatar and other subsidiary offices; Ras Laffan/Industrial warehouse; with offshore activities and mission abroad if requested.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS ON THE SPECIFICITIES OF THE JOB

  • Based in Qatar with Frequent missions worldwide to be forecasted (line pipe manufacturers and EPC Contractor’s location). Job will require to go offshore on board the main installation vessel to follow-up the welding & NDT activities
  • The job will require minimum 10 years’ experience in supervision of Welding & NDT activities for Oil & Gas projects, including significant experience with Corrosion Resistant Alloys products.
  • Basics knowledge in coating (3LPE/CWC) and construction would be a plus for the position.
  • Good motivational skills. Sound organization ability and respect for planning and budgets. Good knowledge of the relevant environment, open to new concepts and methods of construction. Fluent in English. Valid BOSIET certificate (Opito).

MISSIONS

The job holder is in charge, under the responsibility of the Engineering and Procurement Leader, of activities related to Material (Non Destructive Examination / material selection, etc), Corrosion, Welding and NDT.

The job holder will ensure, during detailed engineering, procurement and construction phases, that all deliverables and documents (both internal and external) related to the Material, Welding & NDT are timely issued and fitted for purpose. The job holder shall ensure compliance of Contractors deliverables and documents with Company HSSEQ requirements and specifications, with applicable codes and standards and best engineering practices, and with Project specifications. The job holder will review deviations to Company specifications or deviations requests/technical queries. The job holder will be the Contractor’s and Vendor’s contact point for all matters related to the Material, Welding & NDT.

The Job Holder will timely and actively liaise with the specialists for Head Quarter in order to ensure consistency of the works.

The job holder will also ensure the QA/QC surveillance of Welding & NDT activities at all places of fabrication and construction, including during the offshore installation. The job holder will remain, with regards to the Welding & NDT aspects, the correspondent for engineering, procurement and construction occurring problems, and for any advice to be given or technical deviation request to be analysed and answered.

The job Holder will closely liaise with the Third Party appointed for the 3.2 verification of manufacturing, construction and installation, and will ensure all steps of inspection and testing are fully aligned with the specifications and good practices, and fully recorded. In particular, the Job holder will represent Company for the hold, witness or review points identified in the Inspection and Test Plans

The job holder reports to the Engineering and Procurement Leader.

The job holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their implementation within his/her scope of responsibility.

OBSERVATIONS ON ACTIVITIES AND MISSIONS

Main Challenges identified for 16” pipeline replacement Project:

  • Very fast track context requiring pro-activity, anticipation, and efficiency to execute the project without short cuts to the Company rules and referential
  • Root Cause analysis of previous pipelines failure still ongoing in parallel of the project start, will require closed coordination with the investigation team in charge, in order to address/implement potential mitigations identified during the course of execution, including a robust Quality control of all steps of execution
  • The selected metallurgy for the new pipeline will be Carbon steel + CRA

ACTIVITIES

  • To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE, to respect the Project HSSE requirements and to ensure implementation of HSSE rules.
  • To ensure that HSSEQ issues and requirements are correctly handled and met in all the disciplines-related technical documents and construction activities.
  • To ensure that safe working practices are used within the Team along all phases of project.
  • To be informed of Project Specifications and international norms and standards related to corrosion, welding & NDT, taking knowledge from them to application to the Project.
  • To issue and maintain all the necessary technical documentation related to corrosion, welding & NDT.
  • To ensure that contractual scope of work is duly and timely performed by Contractor(s) and Vendor(s).
  • To ensure daily liaison with Contractor(s) and Vendor(s).with regards to welding & NDT related matters.
  • To participates to weekly and/or monthly coordination meetings with Contractor(s) and Vendor(s) as appropriate.
  • To ensure follow-up / review / validation of progress performed by Contractor(s) and Vendor(s) with regard to welding & NDT and analyses/reports drifts that could occur and propose remedial solutions.
  • To supervise and control the detailed engineering by timely reviewing the disciplines-related documentation issued by Contractor (ITPs/WPS / WPQR / technical documentation / queries / derogation requests...), in order to ensure compliance with Project Specifications and Procedures (when applicable), international norms and standards with the objective to ensure respect of the schedule and to optimise costs without impacting required level of Quality and Safety.
  • To raise consequently necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, constructability issues...
  • To ensure adequate and timely reporting to the Engineering and Procurement Leader (progress, concerns), and, as a general manner, anticipates problems, potential optimizations or improvements and offers solutions with regards to his/her disciplines.
  • To contribute to project reviews as requested by Company requirements (HAZOP, HAZID, SPOT, ODR, PTR...) and prepare or participate in Safety / Technical Audits for his/her disciplines.
  • To liaise and interface actively with other project stake holders and specialist from Head Quarters with regard to the welding & NDT related matters and on all engineering, procurement, constructability, operability and maintainability matters, in order to ensure consistency of the work.
  • To represent Company at fabrication sites, in particular:
  • To review the quality control plans and ITP’s of Vendor(s) and Contractor(s) and ensure their conformance to the specifications and project specificities,
  • Ensure COMPANY’s Review, Witness or Hold points as deemed necessary,
  • Witness of welding operations, welding operator qualification and equipment, including acceptance criteria;
  • Review of NDE techniques and NDE Operatives and acceptance criteria;
  • Assessment and evaluation of welding environment and facilities, including arrangements for personnel protection and HSE;
  • Examination and assessment of materials and consumables;
  • Attendance at Independent, Third Party “Test-House” to witness mechanical testing (e.g. CTOD, Charpy V, Proof and Tensile Testing);
  • Review and approval of any “Special Processes” (Heat Treatment, Induction Bending, Pickling, Passivating etc.) ...
  • To participate to the resolution of any discipline-related problem occurring during the Execution Phase, to review and give recommendation on technical deviation requests and to keep updated the documentation related to the disciplines.
  • To suggest / organise / participate to all necessary inspections and give advices on the matter with regards to disciplines related matters.
  • To ensure the traceability of all fabrication, inspection & testing activities within the as-built documentation produced by the Vendor(s) and the Contractor(s)
