Senior Director Contract Management in Houston, Harris County, Texas, United States

Job Overview:

Responsible for managing the Contracts Management function Globally. This includes responsibility for managing diverse workforce to assure consistent use and application of contracts management procedures and tools

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Support and help achieve McDermott overall Business Plan
  • Provide support for all members of the Contracts Management Leadership team and Global Lead for LNG Contracts.
  • Drive the McDermott values and vision for all Contracts Management teams.
  • Instill, demonstrate and promote Safety as a Value culture
  • Participate in the development of the execution strategy for projects to improve operational effectiveness and project profitability
  • Support the sales group as the Contracts Management Executive representative to Clients
  • Provide functional leadership to Contracts Management staff assigned to Areas and Project Teams and manage groups budget
  • Attend key Client meetings such as Kick-Off Meetings, Major Alignment meetings, Client relationship functions, etc.
  • Provide sponsorship for projects, Provide a communication link between McDermott management and the Clients Project Contract Management leadership
  • Strengthen and Safeguard interests and long-term relationships with our Clients
  • Maintain a working knowledge of McDermott Projects
  • Assist the Project teams in problem solving at the project level
  • Actively participate in Project estimates, estimate reviews, project execution approaches, proposal write-ups and contract T&Cs during pre-contract
  • In conjunction with Project Management and local resource managers, appropriately staff Projects with Contracts Management resources in a timely and effective manner
  • Direct responsibility and administrative head for all Contracts Management employees assigned to projects
  • Work with Project Management to set goals and objectives for Contracts Manager and the Contracts Management team on each project
  • Accountable for ensuring that McDermott Contracts Management standards and best practices are maintained and implemented on projects
  • Provide input and guidance for the development of the Contracts Management Project Execution Plans
  • Confirm that each project team has established the proper tools to execute and manage the project from a Contracts Management perspective
  • Assure that the Change Management, Risk Management, and Contingency Management processes are established and functioning on each project
  • Confirm that Trending and Forecasting Processes are established on each project
  • Assist project teams with the execution of Contracts Management functions on the Project
  • Participate in Project Monthly Forecast meeting in order to support the effort to determine the forecast at Completion as early as possible in the project
  • Actively participate in Project Review meetings
  • Monitor and analyze project performance as per the contract, recommend corrective actions to the project management team to improve project performance
  • Monitor project financial performance; make appropriate recommendations to the project teams or Project Management for corrective actions as required
  • Conduct analysis and present consolidated Contracts Management information at Area level, reporting trends and issues
  • Maintain oversight of project closeout reports and analysis and work with Project Controls and Commercial to ensure that cost and productivity factors are recognized for use in future bids
  • Actively participate in the Lessons Learned process
  • Take the lead to assure Contracts Management functional and process training is delivered to project teams
  • Take the lead in providing Business Unit suggestions for improvement of the Contracts Management tools, process and procedures in order to better execute projects
  • Be the Contracts Management Teams coach
  • Provide the leadership in developing Contracts Management employees while assigned to projects
  • Help develop functional and management skills for all Contracts Management employees to support career development

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited University preferred (or equivalent years of experience)
  • Minimum 20 years progressive experience in contract negotiation, administration or management.
  • Large or Mega project experience in a minimum of one of the following sectors: Oil, Gas, LNG, Power.
  • Experience in leading a Contracts Management team in a Lump Sum Project environment
  • Experience in leading a Contracts Management team relating to EPFC On-shore and Off-Shore Projects.
  • Experience across all phases of a project Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
  • Experience of contracts and contract administration including its assessment and implementation at each phase of the project.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally on frequent, short duration assignments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the construction work, cost and estimating tools/methods, and systems.
  • Experienced in Negotiation and Problem-Solving Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling techniques and associated software.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledgeable in contract modeling Software
  • Must be proficient on MS Office Applications.
