Senior Contracts Engineer

A leading Oil and Gas operator is looking to identify a Senior Contracts Officer for a 12 month rolling contract to be based in London.
Role Synopsis
•Lead in providing proactive commercial and contract management services to proponent groups, ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with corporate standards and requirements
•Provide specialist advise and support to management, operations and support staff , within an oil & gas operating environment
•Proactively manage assigned supply contracts to ensure that is receiving the best value possible from its external supply relationships
•Develop strong working relationships with proponent groups, and assigned supplier representatives
•Possible supervisory responsibilities, as well as mentoring and development of junior contracts staff

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
•Strive to create a safe workplace and to protect the environment
•Contribute to the execution of the contracting strategy, in support of all contracting activities
•Provide advice and support to all levels of Company personnel on matters relating to contracts planning,, strategy and performance management.
•Undertake all formal contracting activities relating to onshore/offshore service/work contracts including developing strategies, pre-qualifications and tender list development. Issue of ITT, analysis of tenders, contract negotiations, preparation of contractual documentation and contract management plans.
•Provide comprehensive advice on commercial and business risk
•Manage the challenge of a varied portfolio of contracts with different contractual issues and priorities

•Promote continuous improvement and high performance in all contractual areas
•Support and coach Contracts Analysts as agreed with Team Lead,
•Undertake post-award contract administration including drafting and processing of amendments, variations and obtaining internal approvals. Contribute to the process of continuous improvement in the contracting process, including the adoption and sharing of best practice.
•Ensure a high quality of service is provided, that activities are completed to the highest professional and integrity standards and in accordance with contracting procedures/processes and business controls, whilst ensuring all decisions/commitments are recorded in an auditable manner.
•In conjunction with department managers company representatives, monitor the performance of contractors and suppliers, developing highly positive and constructive relationships with key contacts, internally and externally and hold regular feedback meetings with these stakeholders..
•Openly and proactively share knowledge.
•Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
•Degree educated or equivalent
•Extensive experience in a contracting environment within the oil and gas industry
•Solid understanding of the oil and gas industry supply chain market and it’s contracting principles and practices
•Full understanding of current UK/EU procurement legislation and the compliance requirements in terms of Supply Chain.
•High level of Commercial awareness and fully developed analytical skills in terms of contractual costs.
•Comprehensive understanding of contractual risk allocation.
•Highly developed facilitation and negotiation skills
•Extensive experience in post award contract management.
•Ability to work on own initiative
•Ability to perform effectively under pressure
•Assertiveness/Ability to articulate clearly
•Numerate, analytical and logical

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or equivalent, Bachelors Degree Hons or equivalent
