Rio Tinto's Growth & Innovation (G&I) group works closely with individual Rio Tinto Product Groups worldwide, providing a range of leadership and support functions, to ensure asset and process optimisation, establish and transfer best practices, develop strategies to drive sustainable performance improvements, and ensure that innovation provides a source of long term competitive advantage.

G&I Productivity & Technical Support (P&TS) delivers a step change in productivity as well as provide technical services to operations, managing strategic technical risk and overseeing the Group's innovation and automation platforms. 

The mission of the G&I P&TS Asset Management (AM) Discipline is to be a respected and admired Asset management organisation that delivers value that others can't by ensuring our physical assets achieve the optimal balance of risk, cost and performance over their entire lifecycle

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly capable, engaging, motivated and collaborative individual to lead the Rio Tinto AM Strategy & Assurance Program in partnership with the Rio Tinto business and functions, including Group Audit & Assurance.

This role is the custodian of the Rio Tinto Asset Management Standard, the Rio Tinto Asset Management Framework and the associated Policies, Standards and Procedures.

This is a global and strategic role in representing the Rio Tinto Asset Management Community and partnering with them to transform the Asset Management discipline in Rio Tinto such that it is a leader in the optimisation of Asset Performance, Cost and Risk.

What the role entails

Reporting to the Manager Asset Management Systems, you will be:

•         Accountable for definition and execution of the Group Asset Management Standard Annual Assurance Process

•         Governing the Group Asset Management Standard in partnership with the Asset Management Global Process Owner and the Asset Management Leadership Forum.

•         Collaborating and socialising developments of the Group Asset Management Standard with the Asset Management Community

•         Accountable for the definition, management, socialisation, publication and delivery of the Rio Tinto Asset Management

•         Working with the Asset Management Global Process Owner to ensure content to support the implementation and execution of the Asset Management Framework is current, accessible and fit for purpose

•         Defining and deploying benchmarking and operational metrics to support the implementation of the Group Asset Management Roadmap

•         Ensuring the Group Asset Management Roadmap balances long and short term business requirements to support enablement and delivery of the Rio Tinto Strategic and Asset Management Strategic Objectives

•         Identifying and replicating group best practices from other business units and functions plus externally to implement the new standard for Rio Tinto

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated:

•         Proven experience in leading an Asset Management Function that delivered transformational performance improvement  

•         Proven experience in the development of a critical risk assurance process in a large organisation

•         Significant demonstrated experience in the successful design (Systems Thinking), implementation and management of a Group Asset Management Standard, Strategy, Framework and Roadmap in a global organisation

•         Excellent written, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills

•         Robust problem solving, strategic and analytical capability including formulating compelling and direction based advice on comprehensive analysis

•         An ability to effectively and efficiently establish relationships with diverse and unknown groups of people

•         An ability to influence diverse teams and drive programmes of change and continuous improvement

•         Well-developed network of Subject Matter Experts to support the role
