Entry / Junior Civil / Water Resources Engineer in US-PA-Blue Bell, United States



Overview / Responsibilities

Wood seeks a motivated Entry-Junior Civil/Water Resources Engineering Professional to join a dynamic civil and water resources team at their Blue Bell, PA (minutes from Philadelphia) office. The selected candidate will become part of an established practice that provides a wide-range of civil and water resources services to a large portfolio of clients across the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Our primary clients include those in the Federal, State, Municipal/Local Government, Clean Energy, and Commercial & Industrial sectors. Opportunities for expanding services further into the Transportation sector and with Non-Government Organizations are anticipated.

As a member of this team, the employee will have an opportunity to grow professionally and develop technical proficiency in the following areas:

  • Site-Civil and Land Development
  • Stormwater Management and Design (including green infrastructure master planning and design)
  • Flood Risk Modeling and Analysis (Hydrology and Hydraulic evaluations)
  • Water and Wastewater Systems Design
  • Stormwater policy and associated regulatory permitting (including MS4, Pollutant Reduction Plans, TMDL, stormwater user fees, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work under the direction of a professional engineer in the preparation of engineering analyses, studies, and detailed engineering plans and specifications
  • Work within a team of engineers, planners, floodplain managers, and LEED-certified professionals to define practical solutions to our clients water resource management needs
  • Assist in preparing interim and final project reports to summarize engineering design
  • Use high-level computer systems to develop 1D/2D hydrologic and hydraulic models to assess flood mitigation projects, impacts to floodplains, and storm water collection systems
  • Responsible for the effective management of own time and effort, in accordance with project priorities and objectives
  • Participate in local and regional civil/water resources related organizations


Skills / Qualifications

  • 0 - 3 years of experience in Civil and Water Resources. Relevant engineering intern and co-op experience will be considered for recent graduates
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with an interest in Civil and Water Resources, or relevant disciplines
  • Formal training/education and/or familiarity with in hydrologic and hydraulic principles, watershed analysis
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and ArcGIS (3D and Spatial Analyst)
  • Knowledge of HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS 4.1/5.0, EPA or PC SWMM is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • EIT or intent to pursue EIT and ultimately PE
