Constructs,fabricates, installs and dismantles form work of fixtures of metal, wood andother accessories.

Therole of a Lead General Foreman is to assist the Superintendent in providingleadership, direction and supervision of craft workers; to provide coordinationin order that crafts work in a safe and productive manner.

Theyplan, forecast and coordinate deliverables in line with quality, cost,specifications and industry standards.

Thisperson is to have a full working knowledge of their craft sector, to be awareof industry/legislative changes, safety protocols, relevant certifications (forpersonnel or equipment).

KeyResponsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Builds wooded structures, such as stairs, concrete forms,scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, accordingto blueprints, or oral instructions, and lays out and installs partitions andcabinet work
  • Examines blueprints, sketches or building plans for to determinematerial required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated
  • Selects, loads, and hauls job material to work site
  • Prepares layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using lines orgrades
  • Measures boards, timbers, or plywood using square, measuring tapeand ruler and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber. Shapesmaterials to required sizes using saws, chisels, and planes
  • Verifies accuracy of structure with transit, plumb bob, square andlevel
  • Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable, wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars
  • Nails cleats (braces) across boards to constructconcrete-supporting forms
  • Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts foruse in building concrete piers, footings, and walls
  • Erects frame work for structures and lays sub-flooring
  • Cuts and assembles timbers to build trestles and cofferdams
  • Erects scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installsladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways
  • Constructs forms, chutes, and aligns form panels for pouringconcrete and grout
  • Fits and installs pre-fabricated window frames, doors, weatherstripping interior and exterior trim and finished hardware
  • Fits and nails sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings.Sets and braces anchor bolts
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools andequipment
  • Ability to tie rebar
  • Operation of electric and pneumatic tools
  • May rig materials
  • May mix cement or epoxygrouts using concrete mixing machine or hoe
  • Signals the concretedeliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring
  • May build or reinforce formsor bracing prior to pours
  • Loads, transports andunloads tools, equipment and supplies
  • Spreads concrete tospecified depth and workable consistency, using a float to bring water tosurface and produce soft topping
  • Levels, smooths and shapessurfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge and float or powerscreed
  • Finishes concrete surfacesusing power trowel or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to specifiedfinish
  • Remove rough or defectivespots from concrete surfaces, power grinder or chisel and hammer and patchesholes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
  • Spray cement mortar orconcrete to cover exposed earth, masonry, and steel surfaces and forcing groutinto drilled holes or spaces between foundations.
  • Molds expansion joints andedges using edging tools, jointers and straight edge
  • May direct sub-grade workand setting of forms
  • Assists in lifting,positioning and securing of materials and work pieces
  • Perform minor maintenanceand cleaning activities with tools and equipment
  • Responsible for observingand complying with all safety and project rules.
  • Performs other duties asrequired
  • Planand coordinate labor requirements.
  • Evaluatingperformance against schedule.
  • Closingout Punch list items as allocated.
  • AdvisingSuperintendent of any issues, impacts, risks or potential costs (financial ortime).
  • Creating,maintaining and updating short range look ahead.
  • Maintainand monitor company and project specific HSE plans, ensuring awareness andcompliance is asserted.
  • Liaise,coordinate and supervise subcontractors, ensuring they conform to siteoperations, safety specifics and project requirements.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions toproblems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or projectobjectives and guidelines.
  • Monitorsand reports on cost and man-hour budgets.

BasicQualifications:

  • NCCER or equivalent certification with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 48 months documented fieldexperience in chosen craft discipline, with minimum of 12 months experience atForeman level.
  • Must have the ability to read andinterpret instructions and documentation.
  • Experiencein forecasting and planning of project requirements: equipment, materials, etc.
  • Experiencein creating short range look ahead for Foreman to execute.
  • Experience in monitoring cost and man-hour budgets.
  • Experience in executing the requirements and monitoring of theproject deliverables.

  • Degree qualified in Construction orrelated topic beneficial but not required.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems,including: Email, MS Office (Excel), etc.
  • Communication skills, both verbal andwritten.
  • Experience in executing,monitoring and updating of construction schedules.
  • Experience in adhering to,monitoring and implementing project HSE policies.
  • Must supply own tools appropriate forbasic tasks.
