Landscape Architect / CADD in Seattle, WA, United States
Wood is currently seeking a Landscape Architect/CADD to join our group in Puget Sound. This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative Landscape Designer to restore and improve highway roadsides, streambanks, wetlands and urban landscapes so they meet functional needs, commitments, and permit requirements. Candidates must have a body of completed work that indicates a high level of expertise in all aspects of planning and design processes. Applicant should be able to work closely with other design professionals in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Landscape Architect will:
- Assist in the development and preparation of roadside preservation, restoration, enhancement, and environmental projects
- Coordinate with project offices on scope, schedule, and deliverables
- Develop and prepare professional reports with recommendations concerning WSDOT projects
- Develop CAD plans (including AutoCAD and MicroStation), specifications and estimates for roadside restoration, preservation, enhancement, and environmental mitigation for site development projects
- Assist in performing inspections and field reviews of construction, roadside preservation and enhancement projects
- Participate in training and stay current on WSDOT standards and Landscape Architectural procedures
- Clearly communicate verbally and in writing with internal customers and clients
- Support all phases of project management including proposal writing, scheduling, budget management, and construction administration
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Landscape Architecture; or related field
- 5-10+ years of related work experience
- Thorough working knowledge of Landscape Architectural principles, methods and practices
- Professional landscape design experience (equivalent to working two years minimum as a TPS2 level landscape designer OR registration as a Landscape Architect in Washington State)
- Communicate with and coordinate the efforts of project team members, clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials
- Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to success in this position
- Strong computer skills a plus including but not limited to CADD, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Adobe Suite, MS Suite, GIS
- Demonstrated ability to perform professional landscape architecture work such as the following: Grading, seeding and planting plans; riparian and wetland restoration; mitigation plans; pedestrian circulation, roundabout and streetscape planting plans; Irrigation plans; and rest area plans
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing across a broad spectrum of professional levels and diverse groups within WSDOT, other agencies, and the public
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from computer workstations and ability to prepare plans, specifications and estimates and plans using CADD, Word and Excel; ability to develop and prepare professional reports with recommendations concerning client projects
- Ability to perform on-site inspections and make professional recommendations for roadside preservation, restoration, mitigation and plant establishment work on construction sites
