Deepwater Drilling Advisor
As Deep Water Advisor you will take up a position within the International Drilling Team located in my client's head office in Europe. You will be reporting to the International Drilling Team Manager and work integrated from the initial well request through detailed planning to the final execution of some very challenging wells around the world.

You will become the advisor for - and part of - a small team presently consisting of a number of Drilling Engineers with broad technical backgrounds, where it is expected that several operations could be ongoing at the same time, either at planning stage or at execution stage.

Work scope/responsibility
The work will entail detailed well planning and subsequent technical support during the execution of deep water exploration and appraisal wells, in areas of the world where the company currently have licenses or in new areas yet to come. Such areas would include Angola, Brazil, GoM and any other area, where the company would be engaged in deep water operations.

Typical activities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the companies operated deepwater drilling and completion operations on a world wide basis from the global head office.
- Ensure that deepwater operations are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Manage costs of deepwater operations; ensure cost estimates are based on most recent commercial and technical information.
- Provide technical support to affiliates for non company operated deepwater wells.
- Coordinate contacts with Exploration and other departments to ensure the free exchange of information and the development of programs based on the best available information.
- Ensure the technical adequacy of all procedures utilized by the International Drilling Group.
- Maintain open communications with On-Site Drilling Managers and On-Site General Managers in deepwater drilling areas.
- Advise activities of Deepwater Drilling Engineers and supervise their training.
- Ensure the preparation of deepwater drilling/completion and well test programmes.
- Ensure that final well reports are prepared on each well and that learnings are incorporated into future drilling/completion programs.
- Ensure deepwater drilling equipment is procured in a timely fashion, to the correct specifications, and in accordance with company policies and local country regulations.
- Assist company in developing deepwater drilling and completion expertise.

Location
The normal work place will be in our main office in a major European city, but naturally some travel activities will be required as part of the work. The amount of travel will depend on the actual activity level at any given time.

Background
The individual would preferably have an engineering degree (or equivalent). Significant experience in the industry is considered a must, and part of this should be in a capacity as Drilling Superintendent or the like and with substantial deep water drilling experience. Personal skills include ability to interact with other disciplines, motivate people, being a good team player and naturally good communication skills.
