Job Description

You will be responsible for developing and delivering technical input and support to the creation, negotiation and monitoring of wind turbine supply agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing the necessary basic and detailed engineering specifications.
  • Effective technical support, advice and input during the development and delivery of off shore wind farms.
  • Participation in high value complex packages of work.
  • Regular liaison with the wind turbine supplier by way of project and site meetings.
  • Coordination of technical queries during the manufacturing and construction phases.
  • Ensuring that the wind turbine supplier complies with the requirements stipulated in the contract.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project construction works, including wind turbine pre-assembly, commissioning and testing activities.
  • Completion of site inspections to monitor and record progress and quality against contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring that health, safety and environmental site rules and best practice are observed.
  • Tracking of the assessment and rectification of defects during the construction phase of projects and the subsequent contract warranty periods.
  • Regular reporting to the wider project team on the progress of wind turbine supply, commissioning and testing activities.
  • Compilation of as-built documentation for inclusion in project health and safety files.
  • Preparation of contract technical specifications in support of procurement activities.
  • Assessment of wind turbine suppliers' proposals during the procurement process.
  • Provision of support to operational projects, including completion of site inspections.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered Mechanical/Electrical Engineer.
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience and knowledge in a responsible position delivering engineering and / or technical services related to wind turbines manufacture, transport, installation and / or maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience of the offshore/marine engineering sector would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in wind turbines fabrication, installation, transport and maintenance techniques.
  • Good knowledge of industry codes and standards and offshore regulations.
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
  • Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment.
  • Ability to represent departments or project teams regarding issues, decisions, standards or industry best practice related to wind turbines technologies.

Skills:

  • The skills required to evaluate potentially complex machinery, equipment, programming and logistics.
  • The ability to both work independently when on site and as a member of a team and to react positively to the varying challenges of construction projects and site work.
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors and consultants.
  • The ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales on a number of potentially simultaneous projects.
