Round 3 Offshore Wind Consortium are seeking an Offshore Wind Project Engineer to report into the Head of Engineering and Supply Chain, you will be part of a multi-discipline team developing engineering solutions for the cost effective, technically sound and safe construction and operation of a series of wind farms on Dogger Bank. The role offers the opportunity to make a contribution to overcoming the broad range of challenges associated with large scale development in a harsh operating environment. With the first consent applications expected at the end of 2012 design decisions taken in the intervening period will heavily influence the economic competitiveness, investment potential and buildability of many gigawatts of offshore wind.
The Role:
Dependent upon the successful candidates expertise, team priorities and workloads the role will include a variety of project specific tasks such as:
Responsibility for Health and Safety aspects of your area of activities.
Working with parent companies to ensure that their experience and lessons learnt from wind farms that are further advanced are incorporated into Dogger Bank.
Development of safe working practices for the construction and O&M of several, large-scale arrays, 125km plus from shore.
Identification and optimisation of construction and O&M strategies for Dogger Bank projects with a view to minimising the lifetime cost of energy.
Development of cost and logistics models to assist with above and to provide input in to project financial models.
Contribution to met mast procurement and geotech survey management.
Definition, execution and analysis of concept and pre-FEED studies in a broad range of disciplines culminating in design optimisation studies and the production of the consent project description.
Working with the other team members engage with the supply chain to understand the opportunities and constraints that may arise from the continued expansion of offshore wind.
Assist the Head of Engineering with the programme management of engineering activities and ensure compliance with internal procedures, including reporting, safety, quality and environment.
Candidate Specification:
At least three years of experience in a similar or related position.
Experience in development and evaluation of engineering solutions in challenging environments.
Familiarity with current approaches to offshore wind farm construction and maintenance would be very beneficial.
Proven track record in establishing safe working practices.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment would be beneficial.
Relevant degree or equivalent.
Experienced in working though issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
