RIG AUDIT MANAGER
This role is to be based within the Safety & Operational Risk Audit Group reporting to the Director of Rig Auditing. The successful candidates will manage a number of rig auditors on assignments at various worldwide locations.
The Rig Audit Manager will manage a number of rig auditor direct reports.
The work will involve leading teams who assess equipment on drilling rigs against standards, document gaps and communicate matters to senior management.
This role is home based.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Manage a number of auditor direct reports as delegated by the Director of Rig Auditing.
- Coach and develop auditors in their team to develop their technical skills, match their assignments to their skills and develop them within BP
- Work to develop the overall efficiency of the audit process and the capability of the auditors.
- Analyse evidence and develop findings which clearly outline the gaps that exist between current practices and compliance with company requirements and standards at the individual topic level and systemic level. During audits lead the identification of systemic findings from emerging issues and assist other auditors in the development of systemic findings. Lead the development of conformance/capability assessments based on evidence gathered during the audit.
- Influence the VP Region Wells, Wells Operations Manager and Wells Team Leader to ensure understanding and acceptance of findings and enable appropriate actions to be written. Interact with all levels of RPU wells management teams to ensure understanding of all findings
- Lead audits by: engaging the business before, during and after the audit; driving the planning process; and managing and coaching the assigned audit team.
- Take decisive action to drive high performance in rig audits. Energize people by motivating and inspiring others to succeed. Coach and give feedback to auditors on how to draw out the best in themselves and others and actively promote a collaborative work environment. Role Model the BP Leadership Framework Behaviours.
- Lead and facilitate discussions between people with widely different views and interests, building mutual understanding and respect.
- Deal effectively with pressure in highly sensitive, complex issues without compromise.
- Develop and maintain internal BP and external industry / discipline contacts to ensure best practice and current views are optimized.
- Represent S&OR audit in interactions with the RPU and other functions as requested by the audit leadership team.
Key Challenges:
• Frequent travel, both domestic and international, is an integral part of the job, as are offshore and onshore rig-site visits. Consequently the work involves working a 21/21 day rotation.
Desirable Criteria:
-Broad technical experience and advanced knowledge of own technical or professional discipline, and an extensive working knowledge of other discipline areas specific to drilling facilities/rigs.
-Broad Knowledge of drilling industry standards such as API, IEC, Classification Society Rules, etc
-Strong safety leadership and understanding of safety management systems.
-Experience in the management of and or technical support of personnel directly involved in drilling operations/maintenance or support services essential.
-Team player with excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to influence at senior levels and motivate.
-Ability to balance competing priorities, create focus and issues to completion.
Proven team leadership skills.
-Ability to think strategically, understand and align objectives with business strategy.
-Experience in report writing, delivery of presentations and chairing of meetings.
