Project Accountant job in UK
We are currently recruiting for an Interim Project Accountant, for our Client based in Wynyard, Co.Durham.
Duration is for Approx 7 months
Our client is a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals. Its operating companies manufacture products for a variety of global industries. Originally known for pioneering innovations in packaging, and later, for rapid and integrated growth in petrochemicals, our Client today has 13,000 employees and operates from multiple locations worldwide. Our client manufactures at plants located inUK,France,Italy,Spain,South Africa, US andMalaysia. The accounting functions for all companies apart fromMalaysiaare based in the Accounting Shared Services Centre (ASSC) in Wynyard.
The project is to implement a new Finance module in SAP. The project, called New GL, is introducing new functionality to our clients SAP business systems and refining the procedures they use for financial reporting to USGAAP and to Local GAAP standards. The implementation is part of a global project with a start date of 1st January 2012. They will also be adding new functionality for the treatment of Intercompany sales on 1st June 2012.
The applicant will be required to support the Project lead in the implementation of the project. They should have a sound knowledge of financial transactions and reporting, preferably be newly qualified or in the final stages leading to an Accounting qualification. Previous experience of working on an SAP implementation project would be desirable. The applicant should have practical experience in the use of the SAP Finance modules FI and CO. We would also ask that applicants have a good level of PC literacy in MS office applications, particularly Excel.
The job will entail supporting the Country Accountants in the ASSC in testing the effectiveness of the implementation. They will be required to liaise between the global teams who are supporting the implementation which includes setting up master data, testing changes and ensuring that changes are made as directed by the project lead and approved in an organised and controlled manner according to the Internal control requirements in the company.
The successful candidate will also be required to ensure all work performed is delivered on time to ensure the project meets the deadlines that have been set.
