Senior Completions Engineering Advisor
Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will provide global Ultra Deep Completions support for my client's development, drilling and producing projects. The position requires experience with and knowledge of the deep, high risk, hostile environment completions, tool testing and qualifications, materials selection, placement in critical wells and workovers, equipment understanding and applications. Candidates should have experience with design, qualification testing and application of various tools equipment and materials, as well as placement operations to ensure successful and economic deep and hostile environment completions. Additionally, the successful candidate in this role must have an understanding of oil and gas production, drilling and development operations. Normal job duties will be to provide in-house technical expertise and engineering consultation on deep, severe or hostile completions in support of development, drilling and production operations within the upstream exploration and production business. This position will require domestic and international travel.
*Provide technical expertise on deep and hostile environment completions, their placement into wells.
*Quality control concepts and engineering design checks for equipment. As well as testing and service confirmation of equipment. Also, consultation on troubleshooting problems.
*Provide engineering consultation to technical staff and E&P leadership on completions.
*Stay current with the latest technology developments in the area of completion tools and techniques with a focus on Ultra Deep, hostile environments. Evaluate the technologies for potential application and assist the operating units with the proper application and evaluation of new technologies.
*Attend and/or participate in various SPE meetings, as well as be active in the API committees.
*Review well and/or workover designs and provide technical recommendations for the application. Be capable of making equipment recommendations for completions for all areas of application, including severe service applications.
*Assist operating units with troubleshooting and diagnostics of completion equipment and techniques and development of cost-effective solutions.
*Review company's practices with respect to industry standards and trends; develop and implement changes to company standards and best practices.
*Teach periodic internal classes on completions practices to optimize the applications in the upstream E&P business.
Qualifications
*Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent)
*Professional Engineering Registration is strongly preferred
*Proactive analytical skills with attention to details and process improvements.
*Candidate is likely to be found in a Service company, rather than in an Operating company.
*Extensive experience of completions tools design and application engineering for both drilling and production applications. With an emphasize on severe hostile deep completions.
*Must be knowledgeable of engineering design criteria, materials selection and placement of equipment and systems, at all service levels. Make design recommendations for this successful selection and deployment.
*Self-motivated to learn and adopt new technologies, mentor others, and coordinate technology deployment with other EPT teams.
*Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, EXCEL.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with management and operations.
*Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a diverse, multidiscipline team environment.
