Structural and Dimensional Control Inspector job in USA
Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. Employing over 100,000 personnel in around 90 countries their strategy is to reinforce their position as a leader in the Oil & Gas industry. They are currently looking to recruit a Structural and Dimensional Control Inspector based in the New Orleans.
As Structural and Dimensional Control Inspector your main responsibilities will include:
- Review structural procedures, fabrication methods, processes and techniques to ensure that applied methods can achieve required dimensions within given tolerances
- Perform routine checks to ensure workmanship practices are uniform and consistent throughout all aspects of steel work fabrication, verification and testing
- Review and comment on contractor's dimensional control procedures for adherence to project requirements, including recommendations for final approval
- Perform routine checks to ensure in-process dimensions are within global and local tolerances throughout all aspects of steel work fabrication and erection
- Witness required activities in accordance with the inspection and test plans
- Ensure contractors tolerance management plan is implemented and adhered to throughout all stages of fabrication and assembly
- Evaluate contractors dimensional control staff for competence and compliance with dimensional control plan
- Verify all dimensional control work performed in accordance with the design drawings, specifications and codes
- Resolve all non-conformance reports (NCR) related to dimensional control issues
- Review and comment on structural drawings and specifications
Qualifications and experience required:
- Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel (C.S.W.I.P.) 3.2. or equivalent
- Radiographic Interpreter; Personnel Certification in Non-Destructive Testing (P.C.N.)., preferred
- Experienced in conducting dimensional control surveys with knowledge of operating surveying equipment, software and methods used in fabrication
- Ability to make adjustments to consider temperature, support conditions and fabrication experience
- Experience with working with large steel fabrication including an understanding of fabrication tolerances, construction gaps and the impact of welding and construction sequence on the final dimensions of components, blocks and final assembly
- Extensive applicable experience in a similar role
- Considerable past site experience in South Korean shipbuilding yards, preferred
- Knowledgeable with relevant codes/publications including AWS D1.1
- Experience with Shell - welding and inspection, and fabrication specifications, preferred
- Experience working with welding of dissimilar materials, and welding techniques
- Experienced in the technical and practical application of production welding techniques and qualification welding in terms of productivity and quality improvements
- English as a primary language
- Strong Documentation skills
- Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
This is a contract position.
The rate for this position is negotiable.
